Hilarie Burton Morgan’s ‘It Couldn’t Happen Here’ Renewed At SundanceTV As AMC Networks Builds Out True-Crime Slate

EXCLUSIVE: AMC Networks is continuing its true-crime drive. The company’s SundanceTV has renewed Hilarie Burton Morgan ’s It Couldn’t Happen Here and has also ordered two new series as it ramps up its True Crime Story franchise. It Couldn’t Happen Here returns for a second season, hosted by One Tree Hill and The Walking Dead star Burton Morgan. Separately, it has ordered True Crime Story: Citizen Detective and Crimes of Entitlement (w/t). The three series will air on SundanceTV, AMC+ and SundanceNow. Citizen Detective is a documentary series that examines true-crime stories through the eyes of the untrained amateur sleuths who solved them or are still trying to do so. Each episode spotlights one new crime and the crime-fighter determined to make sure the case he or she is obsessed with is ultimately classified as closed. ‘The Dirty Squad’: ‘Britannia’ Trio Sets Next Project About First Exposé Of Corruption Within London Metropolitan Police

EXCLUSIVE: Vertigo Films is partnering with its ‘ Britannia ’ team Tom Butterworth and David Morrissey for The Dirty Squad , a new original drama series on based on the first exposé of corruption within the London Metropolitan Police. The news comes fresh after Deadline revealed that Sky had canceled epic fantasy historical drama Britannia after Season 3’s cliffhanger finale. The Dirty Squad , which is written by showrunner Butterworth ( Gangs of London ) from an idea of Morrissey’s ( The Walking Dead ), will examine corruption at the heart of the Met Police during the porn boom of the 1970s. ‘Paradise Court’ Horror Film Based On Zenescope Comics In Works From Screen Gems, Assemble Media

EXCLUSIVE : Sony ‘s Screen Gems is in very early development on a Paradise Court film based on the horror comic book series from Zenescope Entertainment, and has enlisted Assemble Media to produce it, Deadline has learned. Created by Zenescope’s CEO Joe Brusha, Paradise Court takes its name from a luxurious and exclusive gated community where beneath an idyllic facade lies a deadly secret — all the residents are serial killers with unique proclivities and manicured lawns cut as sharp as the knives in their kitchens. The project was brought to Screen Gems by Jack Heller and Assemble Media. Assemble principal Heller will produce, with the company’s VP of Development & Production Caitlin de Lisser-Ellen to exec produce alongside Zenescope co-founders Brusha and Ralph Tedesco.
