Disney+ Announces Premiere Dates for Monsters at Work, Big Shot, Chip ‘N’ Dale & More
Disney+ has announced and confirmed a number of major released dates for upcoming shows. The reveals were made during the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour. Some of the series included in the presentation included the Monsters Inc. spin-off Monsters at Work , Chip 'N' Dale: Park Life and a new series titled Big Shot starring John Stamos. The streaming service unveiled Spring and Summer premiere dates for new scripted series including Star Wars: The Bad Batch (May 4), Marvel's Lok (June 1), The Mysterious Benedict Society (June 25), Monsters At Work (July 2), Chip 'N' Dale: Park Life (July 23) and Turner & Hooch (July 16). Additionally, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 2 is set for May 14 and Zenimation season 2 will arrive this summer on June 11. Hardcore legend Ian MacKaye explains how Woodstock and an unexpected house guest helped lay the foundation for his love of music in this new excerpt from Eric Spitznagel’s new book, Rock Stars on the Record: The Albums That Changed Their Lives . The book consists of interviews with an array of artists discussing the music that influenced them most when they were kids. Along with MacKaye, the book features Laura Jane Grace, Mitski, Cherie Currie, Mac DeMarco, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Suzi Quatro and more. For MacKaye, his parents weren’t a particularly potent source of musical inspiration, though he says he did grow fond of Floyd Cramer’s “Last Date,” a “schmaltzy, instrumental piano, kind of swing jazz thing,” that exemplified his mother’s taste. Comedy Central Picks Up ‘Daria’ Spinoff Series ‘Jodie’ As Part Of Push In Adult Animation
Comedy Central has nabbed animated series Jodie , a spinoff of MTV’s iconic Daria , with Tracee Ellis Ross voicing the main character and executive producing. The series, from creator and head writer Grace Edwards and MTV Studios, will be paired with Comedy Central’s flagship series, South Park. This is the first major move in a programming shift at Comedy Central focused on ramping up adult animated content and building an original animated slate around South Park . The major programming pivot already was in the planning stages when Comedy Central in late April laid off the majority of its senior programming team. Jodie also marks the first MTV Studios series for Comedy Central as the brads are forging closer ties now that they are part of the same ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Group overseen by Chris McCarthy. ‘Zenimation’ Renewed For Season 2 By Disney+; ‘Monsters At Work’ Gets Premiere Date; First-Look Images
Disney+ has ordered a second season of its animated short-form series and soundscape experience Zenimation . The streaming service also dropped some adorable first-look images of Baby Moana and Bambi. You can see below. Disney+ also set a July premiere for the series debut of Monsters At Work . The news was revealed during Disney+’s presentation Wednesday at the virtual TCA press tour. Season 2 of Zenimation is slated to premiere Friday, June 11.
