Building right off the heat of WandaVision , which ends on March 5, Disney+ will have Falcon & The Winter Soldier ready to drop on March 19. However, it will only be six episodes long, and today at his Disney Marvel ’s first TCA , Kevin Feige explained why. Let’s just says, it sounds like it comes to budget. “Anthony Mackie and Sebastien Stan are spectacular actors which we felt we had to explore their stories and their backstories, or personal stories enough as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. So it was always the thought we’d like to learn more about both of them. In the little interactions they had with each other in Winter Soldier and Civil War… as friends of a mutual best friend in Captain America. We thought we’d have a fun dynamic, if we ever had that opportunity, we’d watch a whole show with the two of them and Disney+ gives us that opportunity. “Six hours is what we landed on as the best way to tell our story. Six hours, whether it’s six … [Read more...] about Why ‘Falcon & The Winter Soldier’ Is Only 6 Episodes: Marvel Boss Kevin Feige At TCA

How The Marvel Cinematic Universe Calendar Is Shaping Up For 2021 & Beyond Between Movies & Streaming Series – TCA
It’s quite clear that we’ll get more Marvel series on Disney+ this year than arguably Star Wars series. At the top of the first Disney/Marvel TCA session, President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige gave a brief rundown of the studio’s plans. March 5 reps the end of season one of WandaVision . Then on March 19 The Falcon and the Winter Solider is debuting. That will run six episodes, a speculated season end date (if Disney doesn’t skip weeks) of April 23. The next big event in the MCU to happen after Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the feature release of Black Widow on May 7. Rival distributors guess that … [Read more...] about How The Marvel Cinematic Universe Calendar Is Shaping Up For 2021 & Beyond Between Movies & Streaming Series – TCA
The Rope: The Forgotten History of Segregated Rock & Roll Concerts
A version of this story was originally published in November 2017 and has since been updated. One night in the late 1950s, the Flamingos ’ bus pulled up to a concert hall in Birmingham, Alabama, and a row of 30 to 50 police officers holding rifles and billy clubs was waiting for them. The cops escorted the six-member doo-wop group, famous for “I Only Have Eyes for You” and “The Ladder of Love,” to its dressing room and gave strict instructions: As black performers, they were to make eye contact with only the black fans, who were confined to the balcony, and not with whites on the floor. “It was ridiculous,” recalls Terry Johnson , a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame–inducted group. “The cops were up there making sure we did not look at any white person. It was a rule when we came in: ‘I don’t want to see any of you darkies looking at the white women out there. If you do, your ass is mine.’ Cruel things like that.” The Flamingos, like all African American performers … [Read more...] about The Rope: The Forgotten History of Segregated Rock & Roll Concerts

The presentation of the 74th Annual Tony Awards — which were originally scheduled to take place in 2020 — will be in coordination with the re-opening of Broadway in Fall 2021 , according to the Broadway League and American Theatre Wing. In anticipation, the team behind Moulin Rouge! The Musical — which includes a whiplash-inducing 70 pop songs — has released a new video that shares some of the complexity of the “four distinctive … [Read more...] about What It Took to Orchestrate ‘Bad Romance’ for ‘Moulin Rouge!
