Deadline understands that the network is developing drama series Drug Spies , from Noah Pink , who wrote the screenplay for the upcoming Tetris movie at Apple, author Kirk Wallace Johnson and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier director Kari Skogland . We hear that the original series, which is inspired by true events, tells the stories of spies who work on behalf of multinational drug companies. FX is understood to have beaten out a number of rivals to land the project, which is in the early stages of development, in a competitive bidding process. The recently renamed Universal Destinations & Experiences (previously Parks & Resorts) has named two executives to key roles at its growing creative division. In a memo to staff today, Destinations’ chairman-CEO Mark Woodbury said Brian Robinson has been named to the role of EVP, Chief Creative Officer and will lead the division’s Creative Studio, including ATI (Advanced Technology Initiatives), Media, Architecture and Planning, and Attraction Development. There’s some succession planning going on in The Handmaid’s Tale universe. As the Hulu drama series enters its final season, showrunner Bruce Miller is stepping down and moving his focus to the TV adaptation of author Margaret Atwood’s book sequel The Testaments. Eric Tuchman and Yahlin Chang, exec producers and writers on the show have been upped to co-showrunners of the main series. It comes after the streamer renewed the Emmy-winning, Elisabeth Moss-fronted series for a sixth and final season . The new season picks up after the events of Season 6. While Tuchman and Chang will oversee the season, Miller still will be involved. He is writing two episodes including the season premiere, and potentially the season finale, though that is not set in stone. But Miller’s main focus now will be on The Testaments , which has been in development at Hulu since at least 2019.
