Herschel Walker’s Response to the Uvalde Shooting Was Incoherent. So Is His Senate Bid
“What I like to do is see it and everything and stuff.” This is how Hershel Walker responded on Tuesday night when asked about gun control in the wake of a shooter killing 21 people, including 19 children, at an Uvalde, Texas, elementary school hours earlier. Asked if he believes there should be new gun laws in the wake of the Texas shooting, Georgia Senate GOP nominee Herschel Walker told me in ATL: “What I like to do is see it and everything and stuff.” He didn’t engage further. pic.twitter.com/wpsAZ7yKP5 — Manu Raju (@mkraju) May 25, 2022 The hollow incoherence on display here is sadly typical of the man Georgia’s Republican voters just deemed worthy of representing them in the Congress. Walker is best known for his Heisman Award-winning turn at the University of Georgia, followed by a relatively lackluster career in the NFL. He hasn’t done much since that would indicate he’d be a capable public servant. He has, however, pledged his allegiance to Trump and … [Read more...] about Herschel Walker’s Response to the Uvalde Shooting Was Incoherent. So Is His Senate Bid
Trump Didn’t Think Jan. 6 Rioters Hanging Mike Pence Was Such a Bad Idea: Report
Donald Trump reportedly enjoyed watching a mob of his supporters storm the Capitol last Jan. 6 . He also reportedly enjoyed that some of them were chanting for Vice President Mike Pence to be hung for failing to illegally stop the certification of the 2020 election results. He didn’t think it was such a bad idea, either, according to Chief of Staff Mark Meadows . The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Meadows told colleagues on Jan. 6 that Trump had said, as the Times puts it, “something to the effect of, maybe Mr. Pence should be hung.” Sources told the Times that Meadows’ recounting of Trump’s comment was relayed to the Jan. 6 committee by at least one witness, and that Cassidy Hutchinson, a former Meadows aide who was present at the time, confirmed it. Trump has previously defended the rioters who chanted for Pence to be hung. “Well, the people were very angry,” he told Jonathan Karl of ABC News, responding to the chants. “Because it’s common sense … [Read more...] about Trump Didn’t Think Jan. 6 Rioters Hanging Mike Pence Was Such a Bad Idea: Report
Twitter Stockholders Vote Against Board Member Egon Durban At Annual Meeting; CEO Parag Agrawal Mum On Musk Deal
Shareholders of Twitter voted not to approve Egon Durban ’s seat on the social media company’s board of directors at its annual meeting. Durban, the co-CEO and managing partner of Silver Lake , was one of two directors up for election today for a three-year term. He joined the board in 2020 after his firm agreed to invest $1 billion in Twitter. Shareholder votes are not officially binding on the company, which said that the board’s nominating and governance committees would decide whether or not to accept Durban’s resignation. ISS, an influential research firm that recommends how shareholders vote at annual meetings, had recommended a vote against Durban, who serves on the boards of more than five publicly traded companies (it lists seven including Twitter, Endeavor among them). ISS calls that being “overboarded.” “The time commitment required to be an effective board member at a public company has increased in recent years, driven by new regulations, boards’ … [Read more...] about Twitter Stockholders Vote Against Board Member Egon Durban At Annual Meeting; CEO Parag Agrawal Mum On Musk Deal
