Willie Nelson explores the deep corners of the Frank Sinatra catalog on his new album That’s Life, out February 26th. In addition to tackling classics like “You Make Me Feel So Young” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” Nelson interprets lesser-known Sinatra recordings like 1959’s “Just in Time” and “A Cottage for Sale.” “I’m just glad to be able to do another tribute to him,” said Nelson, who released his first Sinatra tribute, My Way , in 2018. “I’m anxious to get it out there.” On Friday, Nelson released another track, “I Won’t Dance,” a standard composed by Jerome Kern and recorded by Sinatra in 1957 for A Swingin’ Affair !, his 12th studio album (He cut it in 1962 for Sinatra–Basie: An Historic Musical First too.) Music subscription service Vinyl Me, Please has announced it will kick off its country music-themed Record of the Month series in March with an exclusive reissue of Johnny Cash ’s 1968 classic At Folsom Prison . The VMP Country “membership track” will also rerelease Willie Nelson ’s 1973 album Shotgun Willie in April, with a new pressing of Sturgill Simpson ’s 2014 breakthrough Metamodern Sounds in Country Music set for May. Willie Nelson will have a new book on shelves this summer. Willie Nelson’s Letters to America is an inspiring collection of letters from the Red Headed Stranger to his readers about what it means to be a U.S. citizen. Letters to America will be published by Harper Horizon on June 29th. According to a release, the book is a reminder to readers of the “endless promise and continuous obligations of all Americans — to themselves, to one another, and to their nation — to stand with unity, resolve, and faith.” Along with ruminations on our country, Letters to America includes Nelson’s thoughts on family, leadership, and, naturally, music. His lyrics are woven throughout the book, which includes letters titled “Dear America” and “Dear Road.” Nelson collaborated on the book with Turk Pipkin, a contributing editor at Texas Monthly , who also teamed up with the country songwriter on 2006’s The Tao of Willie. A signature 1990s sitcom is coming back for a new chapter. NBC has given a straight-to-series 13-episode order to Coach , with original star Craig T. Nelson on board to reprise his role and creator Barry Kemp set to write. A sequel to the original series, the new Coach will be set in present day, picking up 18 years after the ABC sitcom went off the air after nine seasons. Coach Hayden Fox (Nelson) — now retired from coaching — is called back to become assistant coach to his own grown son, who is the new head coach at an Ivy league school in Pennsylvania that is just starting up a new team. Though the original series focused on Fox’s relationship with his college-age daughter, towards the end of the show he and his wife adopted a son who will grow up to follow in his father’s footsteps.
