EXCLUSIVE: Netflix ’s tragi-comic romantic drama One Day has its love-cursed leads: The White Lotus ’ Leo Woodall and This is Going to Hurt breakout Ambika Mod . Mod will play Emma Morley and Woodall her on-off lover Dexter Mayhew in the Netflix UK series, which is an adaptation of David Nicholls’ bestselling novel charting a series of intense personal encounters between the pair that begin on their university graduation day on July 15, 1988. Jude Law ’s production company Riff Raff Entertainment has received a multimillion-dollar capital injection from investment firm Calculus Capital and its Calculus Creative Content EIS Fund, which will provide overhead for key new hires, along with the acquisition and development of new IP. Stepping in as the company’s CEO is Stephen Fusss, who was selected by the British Film Institute to oversee Calculus’ EIS Fund via his Stargrove Pictures in 2019. Fuss is a former media attorney who from 2009 to 2017 headed up the worldwide film and television division at leading UK media investment house Ingenious Media, investing over $750M into film and TV projects, including such major studio pictures as Rise of the Planet of the Apes , The Descendants , The Maze Runner and The Fault in Our Stars , along with the Academy Award-nominated dramas Carol , Suffragette and Brooklyn . EXCLUSIVE: Brigitte Muñoz-Liebowitz, executive producer/showrunner of Gordita Chronicles , is extending her overall with Sony Pictures Television, the studio behind the coming-of-age HBO Max comedy series, which premieres today. Under the new multi-year pact, Muñoz-Liebowitz will continue to develop scripted comedy series across cable and streaming as well as run Gordita Chronicles if the series, which is drawing solid early reviews, is renewed for a second season. Muñoz-Liebowitz already has a number of projects in the works, including Birthright, which she is co-writing with Lindsay Golder. Created by Claudia Forestieri, Gordita Chronicles is set in 1980s Miami and tells the story of the Castellis who move from the Dominican Republic in pursuit of the American dream.
