In a tweet on Friday evening, the US president confirmed a deal that his administration had outlined for members of Congress. Lawmakers in both parties have expressed concern over his decision to soften an earlier US action against ZTE over what his Commerce secretary called “egregious” violations of sanctions on Iran and North Korea. Mr Trump took a jab at Democrats in his tweet, saying that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and former President Barack Obama “let... President Donald Trump lamented the number of assaults on police officers at a ceremony honoring fallen officers on Capitol Hill."In 2016, an officer was assaulted in America on an average of every 10 minutes, can you believe that?" Trump said on Tuesday. "It's outrageous, and it’s unacceptable. We must end the attacks on our police, and we must end them right now. We believe criminals who kill our police should get the death penalty. Bring it forth."Is that true?Trump’s numbers are based on data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. But factoring in the growing population of Americans and police shows the rate isn’t as constant as Trump made it sound. The FBI reported that 57,180 officers were victims of line-of-duty assaults in 2016.With 525,600 minutes in a year, that breaks down to an assault every 9.19 minutes. Adjusting for the 10 percent of agencies that didn’t report any data, that’s an officer assaulted every 10.3 minutes. Some of the actions … [Read more...] about PolitiFact fact-check: Is a police officer assaulted every 10 minutes in the United States, as Donald Trump said?
By Cicero Estrella | [email protected] | Bay Area News Group May 8, 2018 at 1:22 pm Donald Trump demanded a public apology. It would have to be the on-air groveling kind — nothing less — in front of an audience of possibly millions. Seth Meyers didn’t have a “my bad” in him. The “Late Show” host recalled to Politico the 2015 backstage run-in with the future president during the “Saturday Night Live” 40th anniversary. Meyers jumped at the opportunity to invite Trump to guest on his late-night talk show, and Trump seemed receptive to the idea. But Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen later got back to Meyers to say that there would be no appearance without an apology. Trump, it seems, was holding a grunge from four years earlier when Meyers took aim at him during the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Some have said that Meyers’ performance was the watershed moment in which an angry and … [Read more...] about Why Donald Trump will never appear on Seth Meyers’ ‘Late Show’

By Lee Moran President Donald Trump said Thursday he was too busy to buy his wife Melania Trump a 48th birthday gift, a day after he enjoyed an extended Twitter lovefest with rapper Kanye West. In a telephone interview with “Fox & Friends,” Trump claimed he’d decided to call in to the show because it was his wife’s birthday. “I picked a very, very special day because it’s Melania’s birthday so I said, let’s do it on Melania’s birthday,” he said. “So happy birthday to Melania.” When asked what gift he had bought for his wife, the president replied: Well, I better not get into that ’cause I may get in trouble. Maybe I didn’t get her so much. I tell you what she has done, I got her a beautiful card. POLITICS 04/11/2018 04:53 am ET "We’re not messing around here." By Ed Mazza 10k 150 Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), a staunch supporter of Donald Trump, said on Tuesday night that he’s ready to begin impeachment proceedings. Just not against the president. Nunes told Fox News that he was ready to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in contempt of Congress for failing to provide documents related to the 2016 counterintelligence investigation into Russian interference in the election and possible ties to the Trump campaign. Nunes even appeared to give a deadline of Wednesday evening, warning it “will get really complicated” after that. “We’re not going to just hold in contempt,” he told Laura Ingraham. “We will have a plan to hold in contempt and to impeach.” “To impeach Christopher Wray?” Ingraham asked. “Absolutely,” … [Read more...] about Devin Nunes Is Ready To Impeach Someone, And It’s Not Donald Trump
