Ridley Scott recently returned to the Alien franchise in an arguably more proper way than he did with 2012's Prometheus by releasing Alien: Covenant . People have very mixed feelings about both of the Alien prequels so far, but if lackluster box office doesn't get in the way, we are at least getting one more entry in the franchise. Now, writer Damon Lindelof has shed some light on where the story could possibly go, should Fox give the green light to the Alien: Covenant sequel, which was being called Alien: Awakening last we heard. Warning: Spoilers for Alien: Covenant ahead. Damon Lindelof, who worked on the Prometheus script but did not return to work on Alien: Covenant , recently spoke with Collider, in honor of his HBO series The Leftovers coming to a close. During the conversation he talked a bit about Alien: Covenant and some of what he discussed with Ridley Scott in terms of where the story could go after Prometheus . See Julien Baker Perform ‘Little Oblivions’ Songs on ‘CBS This Morning’
Julien Baker performed three songs off her recently released album Little Oblivions for CBS This Morning ’s latest “Saturday Sessions.” For the mini-concert, Baker and her backing band ran through “Hardline,” “Heatwave” and “Faith Healer,” the first three tracks on the Tennessee-based singer-songwriter’s third LP. While Baker utilizes a backing band for the “Saturday Sessions,” she performed every instrument on Little Oblivions herself; the album also shifted away from the guitar-and-vocals approach of her previous two LP. “I didn’t want to put out this vibe of, like, ‘I’m in a band now! I have a reason to have distortion on my pedal board!,’” Baker told Rolling Stone in October. “I mean, I am very happy to have a reason to have distortion on my pedal board. But I didn’t want it to feel like a gimmick. I just wanted it to feel like songwriting with drums.” Little Oblivions , written in 2019 prior to the pandemic, finds Baker reflecting on her mental … [Read more...] about See Julien Baker Perform ‘Little Oblivions’ Songs on ‘CBS This Morning’
One WandaVision Finale Scene Had Paul Bettany So Frightened, He Couldn’t Learn His Lines
There are SPOILERS ahead, so proceed with caution. Fighting your own clone is a time-honored tradition in superhero stories. Christopher Reeve did it in Superman III , Chris Evans did it in Avengers: Endgame . And now, Paul Bettany has done the same as two different versions of the android Vision in the final episode of WandaVision . In a recent interview, Bettany admitted he was afraid of filming his scenes as the two Vision(s). "To differentiate between the two characters in a way that didn't just feel superficial... I mean, of course, one is purple, and one is white, so you have that going for you. But I wanted [The Vision] to be familiar and yet at the same time kind of intimidating. And for some reason, I was really intimidated by the idea. I kept putting off dealing with it because I knew we weren't shooting it till later. I was letting some ideas percolate because he has a very quick arc for where The Vision needs to go. He has a big turn to get through. I was … [Read more...] about One WandaVision Finale Scene Had Paul Bettany So Frightened, He Couldn’t Learn His Lines
Zack Snyder Talks Knightmare Connection Between Batman v Superman and Justice League
When Zack Snyder took back Justice League , he decided to ensure that every bit of his envisioned storyline should be added to the cut which has led to an epic 4-hour melee of DC superhero fun. Much of the new material comes from changing character designs via VFX work, reshooting sequences for better detail, and even brand new sequences with actors Jared Leto as Joker and Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke. Though we haven't seen any footage of Deathstroke yet, a glimpse of Knightmare Joker in the trailer has hyped up audiences and has filled the web with countless theories about the Snyderverse. Adding Joker to the narrative means that for the first time, DCEU versions of Batman and his arch-nemesis would share a scene together, not as enemies but as allies. The Real Case of Censorship That Proves ‘Cancel Culture’ Outrage Is Bullshit
The conservative outrage about cancel culture this past week reached a fevered pitch. Right-wing politicians have used their CPAC speeches and social media accounts to decry people being forced to change what they say in the name of mob sentiments. Culture war commentators in newspapers and online outlets have written lengthy broadsides against this current form of political correctness. Fox News has seemingly spent more time on the issue than the pandemic that still grips the country. This rightwing focus has been couched in the honorable defense of free speech and free thought. Those are fundamental principles of this country, no doubt, but don’t be fooled — American conservatives have no interest in these abstract principles. Instead, all they care about is defending a time when racism, sexism, and anti-LGBT sentiments were commonplace and acceptable.
