Bill tasks Eric with getting the witch coven out of Bon Temps (both vampires remember the witches’ role in the vampires’ fate during the Inquisition and neither wants to wait to see what happens in Bon Temps). Eric shows up at the coven meeting, where Lafayette, Jesus and Tara are among those gathered, and in a moment of true Eric cockiness, tells the witches this is the last time they’ll meet. Marnie tries to negotiate, he bites her, Holly starts a spell — but Lafayette, the powerful link in last week’s magic, doesn’t join in right away. When he does, Marnie is embodied by an older witch (seemingly from the Inquisition) who casts a spell. The lights go out, Eric leaves in a daze and Marnie has no recollection of what happened. Neither, as it turns out, does Eric: On her drive home from work, Sookie sees Eric (bare, except for his jeans) wandering along the side of the road. And he doesn’t remember who she is. … [Read more...] about ‘True Blood’ Recap: Time for a Shift

Secrets of a Baby Vampire
Maybe. It’s interesting, because if you were rich, you could have tubes inserted close to your neck – so if you woke up, you could scream and people could hear you and air could come in. But the cheap one was a little bell: They would place a bell on top of the gravestone, and a string that would run down through a tube into the casket attached to the dead person’s hand. If you woke up you could try to ring this bell and call for help. Of course, with any kind of ground tremor or if the hand decomposed in a certain way, it might ring the bell, so there were lots of interesting false alarms. People were gruesome back around the Victorian era. It does not surprise me that we had Frankenstein and Dracula and Mary Shelley within these 100 years, writing these scary stories. … [Read more...] about Secrets of a Baby Vampire

‘True Blood’ Recap: Eric Has Amnesia
Pam arrives, having sped over to her master from Fangtasia once Sookie gave her word of Eric’s amnesia and reveals that she believes Bill set Eric up when he ordered him to address the witch issue. “Witches? Oh great,” Sookie says. “Now I have to deal with witches? No, not my problem.” But it becomes her problem when she agrees to hide Eric, as long as she gets paid. The plan works well for all of a day: Eric is missing the next night when Sookie returns home (in a meta-moment, she kills time by reading a book by Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse novels). Suddenly, Claudine arrives to order a reluctant Sookie back to the fairy homeland. Just as Sookie refuses, Eric swoops in and feeds off Claudine, ultimately killing the fairy due to the lust her blood inspires within him. … [Read more...] about ‘True Blood’ Recap: Eric Has Amnesia
‘True Blood’ Recap: Let’s Do the Time Warp
As it always seems to, the plot returns to the Bill/Sookie/Eric love triangle, at this point almost a welcome comfort: Bill Compton continues to talk with 19th century stiffness and provides Sookie’s alibi for the last year, telling everyone she was off doing his top-secret vampire errand. What he doesn’t tell Sookie is that he’s been involved with laywer-about-town Portia Bellefleur (Sookie gleans this from a peak into Portia’s head) and that he has seemingly claimed the Louisiana vampire throne from Sophie-Anne Leclerq, meaning he’s now officially above Eric on the vampire feeding chain. Eric Northman, who appeases Nan Flannigan‘s need for a suave vampire to front their PR movement (“It’s a post Russell Edgington world, everyone, and we win back the public one smile at a time”), also proclaims he was the only one to not believe Sookie was dead. He reveals he was the mystery proprieter who bought her house: “If I … [Read more...] about ‘True Blood’ Recap: Let’s Do the Time Warp
