Ashley Kline-Shapiro has been promoted to vice president, unscripted and slate publicity for ABC Entertainment and Walt Disney Television (WDT) Alternative. In her new role, she will continue to oversee unscripted publicity for ABC Entertainment and will add Live with Kelly and Ryan — as well as a newly established slate publicity and special projects team — to her purview. She will also be responsible for all executive media relations for Rob Mills ’ expanded portfolio, working in close partnership with the corporate communications team and colleagues across Disney TV Studios and Hulu Originals. National Geographic Content has appointed Karen Greenfield to the newly created position of senior vice president of content, diversity and inclusion. Greenfield, who previously served as Nat Geo’s SVP of Business Operations, and Diversity and Inclusion Council Chair, will now “develop and execute programs and initiatives to produce diverse and inclusive content and contribute to a culture of belonging across all Nat Geo Content teams. She will also work with leaders across The Walt Disney Company to ensure Nat Geo talent and programming are integrated into Companywide DEI initiatives,” according to a release from the company. TelevisaUnivision said its Vix + streaming service will launch July 21, at a monthly price of $6.99 in the U.S. and MX$119 in Mexico. The premium tier is joining the free, ad-supported Vix, which went live in March. The streaming moves followed the formation of TelevisaUnivision as a company earlier this year after the close of the $4.8 billion merger of Univision and the media holdings of Mexico’s Grupo Televisa. Along with the U.S. and Mexico, Vix and Vix+ are rolling out across most of Spanish-speaking Latin America. TelevisaUnivision has said it believes Spanish-speaking streaming audiences are underserved. Vix+ will release more than 70 original series and movies in its first year. Between them, Vix and Vix+ will have 50,000 hours of programming, including live sports. Original titles heading to Vix+ include María Felix, La Doña , La Mujer del Diablo and Mi Vecino El Cartel.
