Nominations for the EE British Academy Film Awards will be unveiled Thursday in London via a livestream that begins at 12 GMT/4 AM PST. Actors Hayley Atwell and Toheeb Jimoh will reveal nominations from BAFTA headquarters at 195 Piccadilly. Among frontrunners for awards are Netflix’s German-language World War I drama All Quiet on the Western Front, which was longlisted in 15 categories, and Martin McDonagh’s tragicomedy The Banshees of Inisherin , which landed on 14 lists. All Quiet’s longlist showing is the largest haul a non-English language film has achieved during BAFTA’s longlist voting stage, which was first launched in 2021. Discovery is looking to take Puppy Bowl to another level as a live television event by simulcasting it across linear networks and streaming platforms from both sides of the merged company. In its first post-merger edition, Puppy Bowl will run on its home network, Animal Planet , where it has been a staple for 19 years, as well as on TBS , the unscripted-leaning brand of the TNets, Discovery Channel as well as soon-to-be-combined Discovery+ and HBO Max . Warner Bros Discovery and the European Broadcasting Union have won the auction for Olympic Games broadcasting rights between 2026 and 2032. Following a competitive tender put out by the International Olympic Committee ( IOC ), the pair’s joint bid was successful and will take the rights in 49 territories. This covers the Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortino in 2026, the Olympic Games in L.A. in 2028, the Winter Olympics of 2030 and the Brisbane Olympics in 2032, along with the Youth Olympic Games during the six-year period. WBD, in its previous guise as Discovery, first won the rights to the rights to the Games in 2015 in a €1.3BN ($1.4BN) deal struck through subsidiary Eurosports for the 2018-2024 period. It then broadcasted or sub-licensed those rights across the continent. Elvis Presley ’s Graceland will host a memorial service and celebration of life for Lisa Marie Presley , Elvis’ only child, on Sunday, January 22 at 9 a.m. CT/7 a.m. PT. The ceremony on the front lawn of the Memphis estate of the King of Rock and Roll is open to the public and will include Lisa Marie’s family and friends. After the service, there will be a procession through Graceland’s Meditation Garden, where Lisa Marie will be laid to rest alongside the graves of Elvis and her son Benjamin Keough, who died in 2020 at age 27. A video tweet by Dr. Chris Nowinski, a neuroscientist and founder of the Concussion Legacy Foundation, has garnered more than 15 million views after showing a particularly disturbing moment from show, hosted and created by UFC president Dana White . GLAAD , the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, today announced the nominees for the 34th Annual GLAAD Media Awards . Current RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Salina EsTitties and Sasha Colby announced nominees in select GLAAD Media Awards categories in a ‘ GLAAD Drag Story Time’ video that just debuted on GLAAD’s YouTube. In the video, Sasha Colby commented on recent attacks on drag performers across the country: “Performers like us are being threatened with anti-LGBTQ bills, nasty protests, and even violence. You know what’s scary? People with guns, not queens with books!” In 2022, GLAAD found over 140 incidents of anti-LGBTQ protests and threats targeting drag events, including events run by the organization Drag Story Hour. There are hardly any other networks that have undergone more disruption over the past nine months than Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT and TBS have post-merger — and it’s not over. The TNets just saw their major January series premieres — previously announced and already promoted — scrapped at the last minute. That includes Season 4 of TBS’ Miracle Workers , which had been slated to open January 16; Season 2 of the network’s unscripted series The Cube , which had been slotted for a January 8 debut; as well as TNT’s acquired British drama The Lazarus Project , which had been teed up for a January 23 launch. CNN will start showing the post-show Overtime segments from HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher as part of its Friday edition of CNN Tonight . The segments will start this Friday at 11:30 PM ET. The Overtime segments have up to now been posted online and promoted to viewers of Real Time . They feature Maher and his guests continuing their discussion on a range of topics and answering viewer questions. The scheduling of the segments is the latest move by CNN Worldwide chairman and CEO Chris Licht to bolster the network’s primetime and late-night lineup. He has not yet named a permanent show for the 9 PM ET timeslot, and sources say that one of the ideas considered has been to schedule a non-traditional host, such as a comedian, for that time period. The Göteborg Film Festival has unveiled the 53 Nordic Films that will take part in the latest edition of the Nordic Film Market , running February 2 – 5. Scroll down for the list. The line-up consists of 17 completed feature films, 15 works in progress, 11 films in development presented at the market’s co-financing platform Discovery, and another 10 features in development from up-and-coming Swedish creators at Talent to Watch. The 2023 edition of Nordic Film Market will comprise a full on-site event in Göteborg alongside digital screenings on the festival’s dedicated industry platform. This year the festival has said close to 500 invited buyers, distributors, sales agents, producers, festival programmers, and other key industry delegates from 32 countries are expected to attend.
