AFTER landing one of the world’s best-known leading ladies, upcoming Peter Pan and Alice In Wonderland mash-up Come Away had all the hallmarks of a runaway hit – before filming had even begun. But I can reveal the block-buster has been thrown into chaos after Angelina Jolie pulled out at the 11th hour. Ange was due to begin work on the movie in Bucks yesterday morning, alongside Selma and Lincoln star David Oyelowo. But I’ve learned that late on Monday she called producers to tell them she would not be turning up — leaving the future of the fantasy prequel in the balance. With Ange still in the UK it is as yet unclear whether she will agree to return to the role in the future or if bosses will be forced to frantically re-cast the part. An insider said: “Everything was set to get under way this week, it has all been agreed for months. Now nobody is quite sure what is going on. “She’s an A-list star and a total pro so everybody expected things to … [Read more...] about Peter Pan movie thrown into chaos as Angelina Jolie pulls out last minute leaving the future of the film in the balance

Fear the Walking Dead. Walking Dead fans are no strangers to saying goodbye to beloved characters in gruesome fashions (a certain baseball bat comes to mind), but even this pushes the boundaries of what they can take. This week’s midseason finale of Fear the Walking Dead left fans stunned when it killed off its main character. Also read: Chris Hardwick On ‘Walking Dead’ Stars Andrew Lincoln & Lauren Cohan’s Exit Fans were wondering why Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) was suspiciously absent from the present day story line and now we know why. In Sunday’s episode we were told through Alicia, Luciana and Strand that Madison had died during the Vultures’ attack, sacrificing herself by luring the walkers into the stadium and locking them all inside. It was devastating, sure, but certainly in line with her character, someone who would (and often did) do anything and everything to protect the people she cared about. ENTERTAINMENT 04/07/2018 08:02 am ET The actor is known for being irritable. Maybe his new movie, "You Were Never Really Here," has softened him. By Matthew Jacobs Joaquin Phoenix has a reputation for being chilly, even cantankerous. The actor clearly doesn’t enjoy talking about himself, which means he might walk out of an interview or denounce the Hollywood publicity machine or maybe even refuse to speak much altogether. In 2014, during a half-hour Q&A after a screening of “Inherent Vice” at the New York Film Festival, Phoenix wore sunglasses and sat slumped in his seat onstage, not saying a word. When Phoenix called to chat about his new movie on Thursday, I expected the same terse energy he’s now famous for. What would it take to get this stoic oddball to laugh or say something nice, I wondered. As it turned out, it didn’t take much at all. Phoenix was jovial from the jump, even apologizing for our delayed start time. He … [Read more...] about What If Joaquin Phoenix Is Friendlier Than He Gets Credit For?
For some fans, watching the deleted scenes or hearing the filmmakers talk about their original vision for a movie can be just as entertaining and informative as watching the movie itself.Quite often, what was cut out gives you a better idea of what happened behind the scenes than what is in the final polished product. Sometimes it can be frustrating to see a perfectly good scene cut out. However, on the other hand, there are some deleted scenes that would have arguably made their movies actively worse had they been included. It should be no secret by now that comic books are super weird sometimes. As superhero movie adaptations have literal decades of stories and events to draw from, it would make sense that some of our favorite movies nearly had some truly weird and wonderful additions. In fact, there were so many scenes worthy of a mention, we had to make a special extended list to accommodate them all. With that said, here are the 21 Superhero Scenes We Never Got To … [Read more...] about 21 Superhero Scenes We Never Got To See

Taylor has cut films for Ira Sachs (Love Is Strange), Rick Alverson (Entertainment) and Julia Loktev (The Loneliest Planet), to name a few. In 2017, he edited two films to appear at the Sundance Film Festival: Elvis & Nixon and Deidra & Laney Rob a Train. He returns to the festival this year having edited A Kid Like Jake, a New York-set drama starring Claire Danes, Jim Parsons and Octavia Spencer. In the interview below, Taylor goes in depth on how he broke into editing, his love of New York’s repertory cinemas and why he prefers characters to be “accessible” rather than “likable.”Filmmaker: How and why did you wind up being the editor of your film? What were the factors and attributes that led to your being hired for this job?Taylor: I first met Silas Howard while I was editing Liza Johnson’s Elvis & Nixon the spring of 2015.
