Kathryn Newton to star in modern Lord of the Flies series for Netflix Netflix announced today that they have ordered a new drama series for their service from Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Chris Keyser (Highland Park). The untitled series, a modern take on Lord of the Flies, has been given a 10 episode order. The series follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town, left without any trace of their parents. As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive. The upcoming project is different from the female-centric version of the William Golding novel which is being planned as a feature film at Warner Bros. “Game Over, Man!”(available Friday on Netflix) Omaha-raised actor Adam Devine reteams with his “Workaholics” crew for this comedic riff on “Die Hard,” in which a group of video game designers are forced into action when gunmen take hostages at the L.A. hotel party they’re attending.Following his success on “Workaholics,” Devine has continued to work steadily on a series of high-profile gigs, starring on “Modern Family” and hosting the MTV Movie and TV Awards, as a few examples. Yet he’s having a little trouble breaking into feature-length movies. “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates,” the 2016 comedy Devine starred in with Zac Efron, didn’t really catch on.
