Jennifer Hudson released the full version of her rendition of the Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell classic “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” on streaming services Friday. An abridged version of Hudson’s cover previously featured in a Mastercard ad that premiered in mid-February that was tied to the credit card company’s “ Strivers Initiative ,” an effort to promote black female business owners. “I am fortunate to have been influenced and inspired by so many incredible black female role models as I’ve pursued my dreams, but that’s not always the case for all black girls and women,” Jennifer Hudson said in a statement at the time. Alanis Morissette Releases Demo Version of Broadway Track ‘Predator’
Alanis Morissette has dropped a demo version of her song “Predator,” originally written for the Broadway musical Jagged Little Pill . In the show and on the original cast soundtrack “Predator” is performed by Kathryn Gallagher and the ensemble cast, with lyrics written by Morissette and music written by Morissette and Michael Farrell. In her stripped-down demo version, Morissette highlights the song’s vulnerability against a piano track: “My goodness is commendable but won’t pull your heartstrings/This magnet for predators is dying to be discerning.” Jagged Little Pill , which also features songs from Morissette’s 1995 album of the same name, was nominated this past October for 15 categories at the 74th Tony Awards, including Best Musical, making it the most nominated show for the 2019-2020 season. Cinema fans were hoping 2021 would be the year that many much-delayed movies would finally be able to release in theaters. While it seems another spate of delays are on the horizon, horror fans are hoping the upcoming Halloween Kills will be able to keep to its October release schedule. In an interview with Halloween Kills actress Andi Matichak , who plays Laurie Strode's granddaughter Allyson, Matichak explained why the movie deserves to be seen on the big screen instead of via streaming VOD.
