For all intents and purposes, Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony was an imitation of life; stars dressed up for “red carpet” pictures from homes and hotel suites around the world, before logging onto a Zoom meeting to hear the results. Even the show’s hosts were in different cities, interacting awkwardly around broadcast delays. But after a barrage of negative attention on the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in the days leading up to the show, it was the imitation of sincerity in addressing the criticism that rankled most. Delayed Again! Johnny Depp’s $50M Defamation Trial Against Amber Heard Pushed To Next Year
EXCLUSIVE: Johnny Depp and Amber Heard won’t be facing off in a Virginia courtroom anytime soon, it seems. In yet another delay in the trial start of the former Pirates of the Caribbean star’s acetous $50 million defamation lawsuit against the Aquaman actress, the former couple now will trade barbs and evidence starting April 11, 2022. The trial is expected to last about two weeks. Already rescheduled several times, the trial had been set to start May 7, which was looking like the final mad rush of discovery and depositions. The new date was decided Tuesday by Fairfax County Circuit Court Chief Judge Bruce White. The last time the fuming matter was postponed was back in September of last year. While Depp had been advocating for a new delay then because of his Fantastic Beasts 3 shooting schedule, White actually pushed the date from January 2021 to May due to backlogs in the state’s court system because of the coronavirus pandemic. Super Bowl Ratings Still Being “Processed & Verified,” Nielsen Admits After Unprecedented Delay – Update
UPDATE, 5:11 PM: Well, that was quick, kind of. Nielsen still don’t have any Super Bowl LV ratings to report today, but they do now have something to say about the unprecedented delay – though it ain’t much. “Super Bowl numbers are still being processed and verified,” a spokesperson for the blushing company finally said today. “We anticipate that final viewing figures, which will include Out Of Home (OOH) viewing, will be available to the media tomorrow. We will update the press and the industry accordingly when a final timeline is confirmed.” Which sounds like more of we’ll let you know when we let you know, but we’re not telling you why. New F9 Release Date Further Delays the Return of Fast & Furious to Theaters
A couple of major blockbusters have been pushed back yet again. Though, hopefully, for the last time. Universal Pictures has delayed the release of Fast & Furious 9 , aka Fast & Furious 9, by one month. The movie is still set to arrive this summer. Universal has also opted to delay the release of Minions 2, officially titled Minions: The Rise of Gru . The animated sequel has been pushed out of this year entirely and will now release in summer 2022. F9 was originally supposed to hit theaters in May 2020 . However, as theaters began to shut down around the world over health and safety concerns, it was one of the first big releases to push its release date. As has been the case with many movies, its date has been changed several times. Most recently, the Justin Lin-directed entry in the series had been set for May 28.
