‘The Dirty Squad’: ‘Britannia’ Trio Sets Next Project About First Exposé Of Corruption Within London Metropolitan Police
EXCLUSIVE: Vertigo Films is partnering with its ‘ Britannia ’ team Tom Butterworth and David Morrissey for The Dirty Squad , a new original drama series on based on the first exposé of corruption within the London Metropolitan Police. The news comes fresh after Deadline revealed that Sky had canceled epic fantasy historical drama Britannia after Season 3’s cliffhanger finale. The Dirty Squad , which is written by showrunner Butterworth ( Gangs of London ) from an idea of Morrissey’s ( The Walking Dead ), will examine corruption at the heart of the Met Police during the porn boom of the 1970s. Marvel Entertainment Chairman Ike Perlmutter Cut From Company
A Disney spokesperson has confirmed to Deadline that Ike Perlmutter is out at the company. Note, Permutter oversaw the consumer products division of Marvel, and isn’t part of the Kevin Feige-led Marvel Studios. Perlmutter’s departure comes amid Disney cutting 7K jobs in a massive overhaul of its employee corps that’s part of $5.5 billion cost-cutting manuever to position the Mouse House even more for the streaming obsessed entertainment era. Permutter’s Marvel Entertainment will be folded into other parts of the Disney corporate umbrella. Perlmutter’s oversight included comic book publishing (which reportedly earns $40M-$60M annually), as well as game licensing and arena shows. Dan Buckley, president of Marvel Entertainment, will stay in place and report to Feige, president of Marvel Studios. Buckley previously reported to Feige and Perlmutter. John Grisham Sequel To ‘The Firm’ Coming From Doubleday: ‘The Exchange’ Arrives This Fall
Doubleday will publish the sequel to John Grisham ’s bestseller The Firm this fall. The new legal thriller, titled The Exchange: After The Firm , will mark the return of protagonist Mitch McDeere; publication date is October 17. The announcement was made today by Grisham’s publisher, Suzanne Herz, EVP, Publisher Vintage/Anchor Books, and rights to the work were sold by David Gernert at The Gernert Company. The book will be published by Doubleday in hardcover, as an ebook, and in audio by Penguin Random House. Anchor will published it in trade paper a year later. The ABC News interview special is titled Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph and will air April 6. In the highly emotional two-minute teaser for the interview, Renner can be seen sitting with Sawyer as they discuss the severity of the injuries he suffered after the accident, which included eight ribs broken in 14 places as well as a collapsed lung and a pierced liver. “I chose to survive,” Renner tells Sawyer near the end of the clip. “You’re not going to kill me.
