YouTuber David Dobrik Angling to Start His Own Tequila Biz
TMZ/Getty Composite YouTuber David Dobrik tends not to touch the bottle, but it sure looks like he's ready to pass you a handle with his name on it ... just bring the lime and salt! Dobrik's company, The David Dobrik Corporation, has filed a trademark application for what appears to be his own tequila line ... at least that's what his paperwork says, anyway. According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Dobrik's looking to lock up the rights to "DOBRIQUILA" to slap on spirits, liqueurs, distilled agave liquor and just about anything else you can take a swig from. Now, while it might not be all that crazy for an influencer to be diving into the lucrative tequila biz -- looking at you, Kendall -- it is a little interesting to see Dobrik making a run at it. Fact is ... the guy is famously known not to drink -- kinda like Trump . Dave even talked about it once in a quick-fire interview with Wired , in which he explained (in the third person) … [Read more...] about YouTuber David Dobrik Angling to Start His Own Tequila Biz
David Dobrik Sued for Excavator Stunt Gone Wrong, Man Claims He Almost Died
Getty David Dobrik should have never been behind the controls of a massive excavator used in a social media stunt gone wrong, so says a YouTuber now suing the influencer, saying he suffered serious injuries as a result of David's actions. In the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, former Vlog Squad member Jeff Wittek says he traveled to Utah Lake in Provo, Utah in the summer of 2020 with David and a group of friends to shoot video as part of Dobrik's "social media comeback." Wittek says the plan for one video was to use an excavator, operated by Dobrik, and plant it in the water, to swing people around with a rope while riding various objects -- including wakeboards. However, Wittek claims Dobrik then suggested people get swung around by the machine -- that he was operating -- by only holding the rope, and without objects. Wittek says when it was his turn -- David started to swing him around too quickly -- the docs claim Dobrik noticed he was … [Read more...] about David Dobrik Sued for Excavator Stunt Gone Wrong, Man Claims He Almost Died

Pranks, Paranoia and Peter Pan: John Lee on Making ‘False Positive’
This piece originally appeared as part of Rolling Stone ’s annual Hot List, in the July/August issue of the magazine. When John Lee was working at his first job — a magic store in the small Bay Area town of Castroville, California — there was a trick he’d always play. “It’s a classic move called the French Drop,” the 49-year-old filmmaker says, as he angles his laptop’s camera downward. He picks up a quarter, slides it into his other hand, and closes his palm; when he opens his fist, there’s no coin there. “‘Oh, look, it stayed in this hand, haha!’” The teenage Lee wouldn’t perform the gag for regular customers, however; he’d wait until professional magicians came into the shop and then do the antiquated Magic 101 move. The older men would wearily sigh, roll their eyes, and gesture toward the first hand… at which point Lee would open his fist and present their coins. “I loved it, because they would just seethe, ” he says, cracking up at the memory. “They thought they caught … [Read more...] about Pranks, Paranoia and Peter Pan: John Lee on Making ‘False Positive’
