Comedian Tig Notaro and Dulcé Sloan ( The Daily Show with Trevor Noah ) will serve as hosts for The Hollywood Critics Association TV awards Aug. 13-14 at the Beverly Hilton. Sloan will emcee on night one, which will focus on broadcast & cable categories, while Notaro will host night two for the streaming categories. The HCA TV Awards will be live-streamed both nights on the HCA’s Official YouTube Channel and via the HCA App, which is available to download on Apple TV and Roku. Saturday Night veteran Kenan Thompson will host the 74th Emmy Awards for NBC and the Television Academy. The three-hour, coast-to-coast live telecast from the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles will air Monday, September 12 on NBC and stream live on Peacock for the first time. This will be Thompson’s first time hosting the Emmys. He has recent awards emceeing experience: he hosted the 2021 People’s Choice Awards, which ran simultaneously on NBC and E! this past December, and returned as host of the 2022 NHL Awards a month and a half ago. Thompson’s hire extends the streak of current or former SNL cast members/writers hosting all Emmy Awards ceremonies on NBC that have had a host since the return of the “wheel” system rotating the show among the Big 4 broadcast networks in the mid-1990s. The legendary talk show host's company, Harpo, has filed suit against a couple of up-and-coming podcasters who launched a series this year called "Oprahdemics" -- where they discuss all things Winfrey and go through their favorite TV moments in fine detail. The two hosts are Kellie Carter Jackson and Leah Wright Rigueur , and Harpo is suing them and their production company, Roulette Productions, for trademark infringement. A former crewmember on the reboot of The Wonder Years has accused Fred Savage of forcing himself on her at a bar one night in a new Hollywood Reporter piece detailing some of the allegations that may have led to Savage’s ouster from the show earlier this year. Back in May, Savage was fired from his role as executive producer and director of The Wonder Years following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct. Executives at Disney, which owns ABC — the network on which The Wonder Years aired — declined to share details, though reports at the time highlighted incidents of “verbal outbursts and inappropriate behavior.” According to the new THR piece, Savage’s exit came after a group of six women who worked on the show sent a complaint to Disney and spoke to an HR executive about their concerns in February.
