Batwoman was introduced in DC’s Arrowverse in the recent “Elseworlds” crossover event. The character was played by Ruby Rose, and I thought she was great in the role of Kate Kane! If her debut was a hit with fans, the studio planned on moving forward with a solo series that was being developed by producer Greg Berlanti and writer Caroline Dries (Smallville). Well, The CW has officially ordered the pilot episode for Batwoman, which will be directed by David Nutter (Game of Thrones, Arrow, The Flash). Here’s the synopsis that was previously released: In the series, Kate Kane, armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be … [Read more...] about The CW Has Officially Ordered a BATWOMAN Pilot Episode

We're going back to Gotham, fam. By Amelia Emberwing Jan. 03, 2019 DCTV’s annual crossover event brought us everything that we’ve come to expect from this yearly spectacle, despite leaving out Legends of Tomorrow. But where it lacked our favorite screw-ups, it did take us to Gotham City for the very first time, and while there we welcomed the first member of the Bat Family into the Arrowverse: Batwoman. Though Ruby Rose wasn’t given a ton to do in her episode, we did see her pretty much nail Kate Kane’s stiff, cranky demeanor. Good news for those annoyed by Kate’s lack of involvement in Elseworlds, though: we're about to get a whole lot more of Gotham’s newest protector. According to Variety, CW just gave Batwoman an official pilot order. Even better, the pilot was written by Vampire Diaries alumn Caronline Dries, and directed by David Nutter! Though we don’t have much in the way of plot details just yet, CW has hinted that … [Read more...] about The CW Has Officially Ordered A BATWOMAN Pilot
It's official: The CW is moving forward with a Batwoman stand-alone series. The network on Thursday handed out a pilot order for the Ruby Rose-led drama from showrunner and writer Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) and exec producer Greg Berlanti. David Nutter, the Emmy-winning Game of Thrones helmer who previously helmed pilots for The CW's The Flash and Arrow, will serve in the same capacity on Batwoman. The news comes mere weeks after Orange Is the New Black alum Rose made her debut in The CW's three-way DC Comics series crossover (dubbed "Elseworlds"). The drama, first put in development in July, was widely expected to be picked up to pilot and remains a frontrunner for a series order given the auspices attached (and that The CW's Arrow, now in season seven, has begun to show its age). The potential series breaks yet another barrier for Berlanti as Batwoman becomes the first-ever superhero series to be led by a lesbian character — and played by an openly gay actress in … [Read more...] about Ruby Rose-Led ‘Batwoman’ Pilot a Go at CW
