There were no surprise winners at the 44th Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards ceremony on Saturday night — the results were determined and announced back on Dec. 9 — but it was nevertheless striking to see the podium at this event occupied, for much of a three-plus-hour gathering, by filmmakers of Asian descent and/or filmmakers gushing about making movies with Netflix, which is often portrayed as the Big Bad Wolf of the film industry. Addressing a packed ballroom at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Claudia Puig, the president of the 60-critic organization (13 members are female), noted early on that this year's group of winners was the most diverse in the organization's history, with 14 of the 18 winners women and/or people of color. FX's The Americans ended its run on a high Saturday, taking home TCA Award wins in three of the four categories in which it was nominated, including program of the year. Heading into Saturday's 34th annual Television Critics Association Awards with the second-most nominations (four), star Keri Russell took home the award for individual achievement in drama as the dearly departed FX spy drama was also recognized as outstanding drama series.The Americans was the night's only multiple award winner. BBC America's Killing Eve — which entered the night with a leading five nominations — took home the win for outstanding new program. The Game Critics Awards have announced the winners for the best of E3 2018. This year's nominees from the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles featured 56 separate titles and products from across this year's convention. The nominees were chosen by critics from 51 publications, of which The Hollywood Reporter was a participant. Winners included Marvel's Spider-Man exclusive for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the multi-platform upcoming action game Anthem from BioWare. Taking home this year's top honor, best of show, was Capcom's Resident Evil 2 remake. In the special commendation categories, recognizing games that were not playable on the show floor, winners included CD Project Red's Cyberpunk 2077 and Naughty Dog's sequel The Last of Us 2. The Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 2018 unveiled its nominees on Thursday morning, featuring 56 separate titles and products from across this year's convention. The nominees were chose by critics from 51 publications, of which The Hollywood Reporter was a participant. This year's convention of the world's top electronic entertainment creators hosted more than 69,000 attendees and 85 companies, with more than 200 exhibitors gathering at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
