The Game Critics Awards have announced the winners for the best of E3 2018. This year's nominees from the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles featured 56 separate titles and products from across this year's convention. The nominees were chosen by critics from 51 publications, of which The Hollywood Reporter was a participant. Winners included Marvel's Spider-Man exclusive for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the multi-platform upcoming action game Anthem from BioWare. Taking home this year's top honor, best of show, was Capcom's Resident Evil 2 remake. In the special commendation categories, recognizing games that were not playable on the show floor, winners included CD Project Red's Cyberpunk 2077 and Naughty Dog's sequel The Last of Us 2. With E3 officially in the rearview mirror, the official picks for best of the convention are almost ready to be revealed. The Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 2018 unveiled its nominees on Thursday morning, featuring 56 separate titles and products from across this year's convention. The nominees were chose by critics from 51 publications, of which The Hollywood Reporter was a participant. This year's convention of the world's top electronic entertainment creators hosted more than 69,000 attendees and 85 companies, with more than 200 exhibitors gathering at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Notable categories in contention include best console game, best original game, best independent game and, of course, best of show. For games and products to be eligible for nomination, they must have been "hands-on playable" to voting publications for at least five minutes of gameplay during E3 2018. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri won best film at the 38th London Critics’ Circle Film Awards last night (28 Jan), held at The May Fair Hotel.The film also won best actress for Frances McDormand, and best screenwriter for Martin McDonagh. With three prizes it was the biggest winner on the night.Timothée Chalamet picked up the best actor award for Call Me By Your Name, whilst Sean Baker won best director for The Florida Project. Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) and Hugh Grant (Paddington 2) won the supporting actor prizes.Collecting his award, Grant said: “First Trump and Brexit, and now me winning awards.
