The man who became a legendary jewel thief – he bagged the priceless Star of India from a New York museum – before graduating to murder is the focus of the documentary series Murf the Surf : Jewels, Jesus and Mayhem in the USA , which premieres on MGM+ on Sunday. Renowned filmmaker R.J. A Dexter prequel series about the Trinity Killer is being considered at Showtime , following the announcement two spinoff projects have received straight-to-series orders. Not much was revealed about the Trinity killer project, only that it focuses on the makings of the notorious serial killer played by John Lithgow in the original series. Lithgow has previously mentioned Trinity is the character he is most often asked about with most fans confessing how truly horrifying he was to watch. The other two projects include Dexter : Origins and the next chapter of Dexter: New Blood . Origins will focus on young Dexter Morgan (originally played by Michael C. Vromen most recently directed and produced the forthcoming L.A. riots drama April 29, 1992 , starring Tyrese Gibson, Scott Eastwood and the late Ray Liotta. Deadline understands that the film, marking one of Liotta’s final projects, has recently been picked up for worldwide distribution by a major studio. No further details yet, but expect them shortly. Dutch-born filmmaker Malou Reymann picked up the Dragon Award for Best Nordic Film at the Göteborg Film Festival Saturday evening with her second feature Unruly . Co-written by Reymann and Sara Isabella Jønsson, the pic follows a teenager in 1930s Denmark who is forced into an institution to treat her rebellious behavior. The story is inspired by real-life events from a notorious women’s institution on the Danish Island of Sprogø. The film debuted in Toronto last year and went on to play Zurich and the Lithuania Scanorama Film Forum before hitting Göteborg. The Dragon Award for Best Nordic Film comes with a SEK 400 000 ($38,000) cash prize.
