Camille Cosby has spoken publicly for the first time since her husband Bill Cosby was found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in a Philadelphia suburb in 2004 – calling it “mob justice”. Camille Cosby, who has been married to The Cosby Show star since 1964, has gone after the Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele, the media and Cosby’s accusers in a statement that alludes to racial injustice. “The overall media, with their frenzied, relentless demonization of him and unquestioning acceptance of accusers’ allegations without any attendant proof, have superseded the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments, which guarantee due process and equal protection, and thereby eliminated the possibility of a fair trial and unbiased jury. Bill Cosby was labelled as guilty because the media and accusers said so,” she said. This comes after a jury of seven men and five women returned guilty verdicts last week on three counts of aggravated … [Read more...] about Camille Cosby Calls Bill Cosby’s Guilty Charge “Mob Justice” In Startling Statement

‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Down From 2016 Series High In Season 8 Debut
After all the hype, the Season 6 cliffhanger finale and the double death of the Season 7 opener, nobody expected The Walking Dead to return this year at record heights, even if the AMC blockbuster was celebrating its 100th episode. So Sunday’s season opener, “Mercy,” took a double-digit ratings dive and met expectations, so to speak. The Season 8 premiere of the zombie apocalypse series snagged 11.4 million total viewers and 6.5 million adults 18-49 for a 5.0 rating. That’s down 40% in the demo and 33% in total audience from the Season 7 opener of October 23, 2016 . When some straggler adjustments are made, the Season 7 debut is virtually even with TWD’ s Season 5 opener for an all-time season high. Overall, with a slight 5% uptick in viewers and 1% in the key demo over the latter part of Season 7 averages, the Season 8 premiere is the show’s fourth-best debut yet. Eight seasons in, TWD can still hold its head high that for the past six years it is and remains … [Read more...] about ‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Down From 2016 Series High In Season 8 Debut

With the additional 38.1M hours viewed last week, the second installment of the series has officially entered the all-time Most Popular English TV list at No. 10. According to Netflix , Season 2 of Ginny & Georgia has tallied 504.8M hours viewed since it premiered on January 5. Season 2 of the series held steady on the Top 10 at No. 1 for four weeks and reached the Top 10 in 88 countries. Movie Academy Expels Bill Cosby And Roman Polanski
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said today that its board of governors has voted to expel Bill Cosby and director Roman Polanski from its membership. The vote came during a meeting Tuesday night and was “in accordance with the organization’s Standards of Conduct,” the Academy said in announcing the news Thursday. “The Board continues to encourage ethical standards that require members to uphold the Academy’s values of respect for human dignity,” it said in a statement. The act of kicking a member out of the Academy is rare, but the AMPAS board in October did vote to expel Harvey Weinstein after a special emergency meeting in October, following bombshell reports the New York Times and New Yorker about decades of alleged sexual harassment and abuse. Cosby was found guilty April 26 in Pennsylvania on three counts of aggravated indecent assault against former Temple University Andrea Constand in 2004. He awaits sentencing and faces up to 30 years … [Read more...] about Movie Academy Expels Bill Cosby And Roman Polanski
‘Vinyl’ Review: Martin Scorsese & Mick Jagger’s HBO Series Rocks
On the surface, it may not seem the most appropriate Valentine’s Day gift, but if you are as in love with rock’n’roll and storytelling from the likes of Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger , and Terence Winter , then HBO ’s Vinyl is a TV kiss you don’t want to miss. Debuting on February 14 with a two-hour pilot directed by the Oscar winner, Vinyl , as I say in my video review above, literally and figuratively rocks. And yes, from its NYC circa 1973 mean streets to blasting the New York Dolls, drugs and a body in the trunk of a car, you could call this 10-episode season GoodRecordFellas – in the best way. With its once-in-a-lifetime behind-the-camera trio and power chord-strong cast led by Boardwalk Empire alum Bobby Cannavale as struggling and stormy label boss Richie Finestra, Vinyl is a near note-perfect swaggering re-creation of a time when the misfit-attracting music biz was at the center of American culture and at its most influential. Still, it is also a … [Read more...] about ‘Vinyl’ Review: Martin Scorsese & Mick Jagger’s HBO Series Rocks

‘The Leftovers’ Opens Season 2 With Early 713K Tuned In To Premiere In L+SD
With a good-ish portion of Season 1’s cast gone, and a somewhat sunnier reboot, the Season 2 opener of HBO ’s rapture-drama The Leftovers averaged 713,000 total and 413,000 demo viewers Sunday in Live+Same Day ratings for its time-slot premiere. On June 29, 2014, the series premiere of the high-concept post-rapture drama pulled in 1.8M viewers in its 10 PM slot on a Sunday. (Damon Lindelof‘s The Leftovers originally had been set to debut June 15 of that year , following the Season 4 finale of Game Of Thrones . But when the it took an unexpected hiatus after Episode 6, with HBO calling it “a short hiatus to prep our final episodes”), it lost that cushy launch platform, instead getting slotted after an episode of True Blood.) That difference between its S1 launch and S2’s starter is a precipitous 60% drop. HBO has, for some time, declined to discuss L+SD ratings, arguing, as do many other TV networks, the stats are irrelevant in today’s viewing environment. Others … [Read more...] about ‘The Leftovers’ Opens Season 2 With Early 713K Tuned In To Premiere In L+SD
‘Walking Dead’ Ratings Down In Midseason Return; ‘Vinyl’ Starts OK
SPOILER ALERT: This story contains details of the February 14 Season 6 midseason return of The Walking Dead There was good news and declining news for the explosive and brutal midseason return of The Walking Dead on Sunday. The zombie apocalypse blockbuster didn’t have to face the potential demo drain of the Grammy Awards this year, with the declining CBS hootenanny moved to Monda y. However, even if the high-scoring NBA All-Star Game and the debut of the Martin Scorsese-helmed Vinyl from HBO weren’t factors, the AMC series took a hit. Not that a lot of that hit came from the HBO opener. Vinyl , the drama series about the record industry of the early and decadent 1970s, drew 764,000 viewers for the premium cabler for its 9-10:54 pM ET premiere. That’s no Game Of Thrones obviously, but OK bordering on soft for an HBO debut. The opener is just a little up from what the Season 2 debut of The Leftovers pulled in on October 4 last year in a big drop from … [Read more...] about ‘Walking Dead’ Ratings Down In Midseason Return; ‘Vinyl’ Starts OK
‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Rise From Midseason Finale In Winter Break Return
There was an attempt at new allegiances, explosive highway antics and a visit from Negan’s Saviors on the Season 7 winter return of The Walking Dead on February 12. Along with that came good ratings news for the zombie apocalypse series. The Greg Nicotero-directed “Rock In The Road’”episode Sunday pulled in 12 million total viewers with 7.3 million in the adults 18-49 demo for a 5.7 rating. Facing the Grammys for the first time in two years, the AMC show based on the Robert Kirkman-created comics was up 13% in overall sets of eyeballs compared to its winter finale of December 11, 2016 which faced Sunday Night Football . Among the key demo, TWD rose 12% against the “Hearts Still Beating” eighth episode of Season 7 late last year. That’s the first time a midseason return of TWD has been up from the winter finale since Season 4 came back from its two-month and one-week break on February 9, 2014. After a season that so far has seen double-digit declines for … [Read more...] about ‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Rise From Midseason Finale In Winter Break Return
‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Steady With Record-Breaking 2014 Midseason Finale
There was death, terror, a horde of Walkers and of course millions of viewers on Sunday. The Season 6 midseason finale of The Walking Dead was watched by 14 million total viewers, with 8.9 million among the adults 18-49 demographic for a 7.02 rating. The numbers for the November 29 episode are down 5% among total viewers and 7% in the key demo from the record-breaking Season 5 midseason finale of November 30 last year – which means this year was the second-highest-rated TWD midseason finale in the blockbuster show’s history after the 2014 winter finale. Week-to-week, the highest-rated TWD of this season after the October 11 premiere was up 6% in both categories from its November 22 show, which was up 3% from the week before. Unlike last year’s winter finale, TWD did not take down Sunday Night Football in the demo, a fate it has achieved far fewer times this season. Sunday was also the night that saw Super Bowl champs the New England Patriots lose their first … [Read more...] about ‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Steady With Record-Breaking 2014 Midseason Finale
