Contestant on who wants to be a millionaire
The first contestant to be asked the million-pound question on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? since 2006 has left with £500,000 after failing to pick the right answer. English teacher John Robinson raced through the questions on Monday night's episode of the ITV show, before arriving at the final hurdle with no lifelines left. It was the first time viewers had seen the show's biggest question since 2006 and the first time host Jeremy Clarkson has seen a contestant get to the final round since he took over hosting from Chris Tarrant in 2018. For the £1 million question, Robinson had to say which former UK prime minister had never served as foreign secretary. However, he was unable to choose from Winston Churchill, Anthony Eden, Harold Macmillan and Alec Douglas-Home. Deciding he was not willing to risk so much money, Robinson took the £500,000. The correct answer was Winston Churchill. Afterwards, Clarkson said: "What a player, what a fabulous player" and called the game … [Read more...] about Who Wants to be a Millionaire? contestant gives up on jackpot question

But luckily he refused to gamble the £500,000 he had amassed — as he told host Jeremy Clarkson he would have said Anthony Eden, not cigar-chomping Churchill. John then revealed he could not have faced girlfriend Chloe if he got it wrong and left with his banked £64,000, which was his target beforehand. The English teacher had answered 14 questions correctly but used his first lifeline at £2,000. He said: “There’s a slight bit of disappointment, which I know sounds ridiculous given it’s more money than I’ve ever seen in my life. When I used a lifeline early on I thought, ‘Oh God, I might not even make it to £64,000’. “I am not sure I could … [Read more...] about Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? final question sees contestant miss out on £1m jackpot as he stumbles on Winston Churchill trivia
