EXCLUSIVE: After the critical success of Netflix’s Unorthodox , series director Maria Schrader is teaming with Dan Stevens on Ich bin dein Mensch ( I Am Your Man ). The film, which recently wrapped production in Berlin and Denmark under strict conditions adapted in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, was shot entirely in German. Stevens has spoken German most of his life and had previously used it for the 2008 film Hilde . I Am Your Man tells a love story in the near future and is a comic-tragic tale about the questions of love, longing and what makes a human being human. Maren Eggert plays a scientist who is confronted with a “partnership robot” against her will. Stevens voices the robot. The cast also includes Sandra Hüller, Hans Löw, Wolfgang Hübsch, Annika Meier, Falilou Seck and Jürgen Tarrach. Besides directing, Schrader also co-wrote the script with Jan Schombourg. Director Zack Snyder has teased what we can expect from Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke return in The Snyder Cut , and it sounds like an unexpected team-up is on the way. Speaking at IGN Fan Fest 2021, Snyder has revealed that, rather than being at each other's throats, Deathstroke and Batman will be working together for the greater good. "Joe's character in this movie when we find him, clearly he and Batman have struck some sort of a deal and they have a bit of a partnership. There's a bigger enemy, I guess. I think that's the big difference. They're not locked in mortal combat. They're actually working together to try to figure out how to make this world work." This week of Berlin International Film Festival announcements comes to a close with the main course – the Competition and Special Screenings programs. Scroll down for the full lists. The 15-strong Competition – all world premieres – includes titles from filmmakers including Celine Sciamma, Daniel Bruhl and Xavier Beauvois. Celine Sciamma is following on from her Golden Globe-nominated Portrait Of A Lady On Fire with her next movie, Petite Maman, which only went into production in November; plot details are hush but it is understood to star two eight-year-olds. Actor-turned-filmmaker Bruhl also plays the protagonist in his directorial debut, Next Door , which centers on a film star and his troublesome neighbor. There is currently no official word on the status of the Starship Troopers TV show. We know, at least at one point, that Sony was developing the project with original screenwriter Ed Neumeier. The plan, when the idea first surfaced in early 2019, was to have the original cast return. Now, Casper Van Dien, who played Johnny Rico in the franchise, reveals his idea for the show, which would involve him returning as "old man Rico." Casper Van Dien recently discussed his proposal for the show. Though not official plot details, the actor explained that he feels now is the perfect time for Starship Troopers to take over the small screen, with him taking on a mentor role for the younger generation of soldiers.
