Ask “Avengers: Endgame” co-screenwriter Christopher Markus to choose the highlight of the long-awaited superhero epic’s weeks-long media blitz, and the answer may surprise you. No, it’s not the gala, star-packed “purple carpet” premiere in Hollywood. Nor is it the promotional interviews with media outlets from around the world. For Markus, a Buffalo native and St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute graduate, the answer is the “Endgame” screening and Q&A on May 3 at the North Park Theatre (1428 Hertel Ave.). “It’s possibly the thing that I’m most excited about,” Markus said. “The North Park has been there my entire life. It’s probably where I saw my first movie, and definitely where I saw my first movie alone — an Alistair MacLean arctic adventure movie with Donald Sutherland called ‘Bear Island.’ ” Therefore, Markus said, the idea of conducting a Q&A at the North Park before a … [Read more...] about ‘Avengers’ screenwriter Christopher Markus returns home for Q&A, ‘Endgame’ screening
If your favorite character died or got a weird haircut in Avengers: Endgame, these are the people to blame. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are the (not-so) secret chroniclers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They wrote Thor: The Dark World as well as the latter two Captain America movies, and both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame — and so they know more than anyone else, other than Kevin Feige, about what’s what in the MCU. We couldn’t actually ask any questions about Endgame at the Endgame junket, because Marvel did not show the film. How do you talk about a movie that you can’t talk about? We tried it, and it goes a little something like this. I'm intrigued by the idea of character bibles. Do you use or enforce character bibles for Marvel? Christopher Markus: They can sometimes hinder us. They are implied. With characters with a clear history that we need to know, like Gamora and Nebula and Thanos, we'll try to glean everything we … [Read more...] about Interview: AVENGERS: ENDGAME Writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely
It’s nearly here. Over ten years ago, IRON MAN became a massive success, one that has led to countless features and a blockbuster size MCU. And one that is going to face a few changes after AVENGERS: ENDGAME arrives. And today, at the film’s junket, we were given a brief glimpse at what the latest has to offer. In a surprisingly quiet, and perhaps a little heartbreaking sequence, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) share a few moments in the vastness of space, while they are seemingly faced with a desperate and impossible situation. As well, we witnessed one moment that our own Paul Shirey shared his thoughts on during his impressive CinemaCon coverage, which you can check out below. Throughout the day, we were invited to sit through the press conference hosted by none other than Jon Favreau - we’ve shared some photos below as an extra treat. This was a lively discussion that was a bit difficult for those involved to maneuver … [Read more...] about Ex. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely Talk Avengers: Endgame & beyond!
A Marvel fan on Reddit may have stumbled across a line in Captain America: The First Avenger that could support one prominent Avengers 4 title theory. Avengers: Infinity War was released about six months ago but given the major cliffhanger at the end of the film, it makes it feel as though it was ages ago. Marvel has remained silent about Avengers 4 so much that they haven’t even revealed the film’s official title just yet. Fans have plenty of theories though and one of them is that the film will carry the tagline Annihilation. There’s plenty of interesting evidence supporting this theory and the latest piece comes from a film that was released almost a decade ago. Further evidence that Pepper Potts will be suiting up as Rescue in Avengers 4 has been revealed. Gwyneth Paltrow posted a picture on social media back in December 2017 that featured the actress with a motion capture suit on, which led to speculation about Rescue back then. However, a new, albeit blurry, image of some upcoming action figures for the film gives another hint that Potts will be getting in on the battle against Thanos. The latest Avengers 4 toy leak reveals 19 Marvel action figures. The figures on the left of the image are hard to make out, but the ones on the right are easier to make out. Thor, Rocket, and Captain America are shown in their new white suits, while Captain Marvel and Iron Man are in their normal suits. However, to the right of Iron Man, there's a character that has armor that is very similar to Tony Stark's suit, except for the fact that the coloring on the suit is purple and white, leading to speculation that it is Pepper Potts as Rescue. Pepper Potts was … [Read more...] about Avengers 4 Toy Leak Shows Pepper Potts as Rescue & New Quantum Realm Suits?
