The breakdown of Ticketmaster ’s sale of Taylor Swift tickets last year triggered a high-profile Senate hearing on Tuesday, as a top executive from parent Live Nation Entertainment found himself apologizing for the debacle yet defending competition in the industry. Joe Berchtold, president and CFO of Live Nation Entertainment , told the Senate Judiciary Committee , “We apologize to the fans. We apologize to Taylor Swift. we need to do better and we will do better.” He blamed the breakdown on a bot attack, while pledging to work with senators to address issues in the industry. BFI Festivals Head Tricia Tuttle Joins National Film And Television School
Outgoing BFI festivals director Tricia Tuttle has joined the National Film And Television School as Acting Head of Department for the directing fiction course. Tuttle’s role at the NFTS will be part-time until she completes her duties at the BFI following BFI Flare, the organization’s LGBTQIA+ film festival, in March, at which point she will join the film school on a full-time basis. Tuttle stepped down as festivals director at the BFI in October 2021 after a decade working for the organization. For the past five years, she has led the BFI London Film Festival and BFI Flare. Last year, under Tuttle’s directorship, the London Film Festival screened 164 feature films, including 23 premieres across film and TV, with highlights including the world premiere of Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio and the international premiere of She Said , starring Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan. Disney & The National Film And Television School Launch $30,000 Short Film Initiative
Disney and the National Film And Television School have partnered on a new short film incubator program where six up-and-coming writer/director teams will create a short project with a £25,000 ($30,000) production budget. The initiative is titled Disney Imagine UK, and the partnering organizations today said the mission will be to build a “more inclusive film and television industry.” The NFTS received almost 400 applications for the program. The final six writer/director teams are: Adam Pearson and Tom Levinge, Alvin Yu and Charley Packham, Tom Dunn and Kevin Morosky, Milly Garnier and Charlotte Paradise, Laura Jayne Tunbridge and Danielle Goff, and Marcus Anthony Thomas and Jordi Morera. Ryan Reynolds led celebrations in North Wales as his side Wrexham AFC almost pulled off a shocking win in a thrilling David vs Goliath FA Cup tie on Sunday afternoon. Wrexham drew 3-3 with Sheffield United, a team that competes in the Championship, four leagues above Wrexham, who compete in the semi-professional National League.
