EXCLUSIVE : Boston Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown has signed with M88 for management, becoming the first athlete to join the company’s roster of artists and cultural leaders. M88 will now look to create and develop opportunities for Brown in both the entertainment and strategic partnership spaces. The No. 3 pick overall in the 2016 NBA Draft, Brown joined the Celtics at just 19 after negotiating his own contract. The two-time All-Star in 2019 became the youngest member of the National Basketball Players Association’s executive committee, joining as Vice President and being reelected this year. BAFTA TV Awards Nominations: ‘This Is Going To Hurt’ & ‘The Responder’ Lead Chase For Prizes
BAFTA has pulled the curtain back on its Television Awards nominations, and This Is Going To Hurt and The Responder are leading the chase for a famous bronze mask. The BBC dramas each have six nominations across the BAFTA Television Awards and BAFTA Television Craft Awards, including Leading Actor for Ben Whishaw and Martin Freeman. Whishaw plays junior doctor Adam Kay in This Is Going To Hurt , which was co-produced by AMC. Freeman features as an urgent response police officer in The Responder . This Is Going To Hurt is nominated for Mini Series, while The Responder will compete in the Drama Series race. Adam Kay and Tony Schumacher will both do battle in the Writer: Drama category at the BAFTA Television Craft Awards. WGA East Sets Walkout At Hearst Magazines For Thursday; Hundreds Sign Petition
Hundreds of WGA East members who work for Hearst Magazines Media are planning to stage a walkout Thursday to demand a fair contract. The half-day action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET and will last the remainder of the day. “ WGA East members at Hearst have been bargaining a first contract for over two years and their last scheduled day of negotiations is March 28,” the guild said. “With only one bargaining session left, the Hearst Union is taking collective action with a unit-wide walkout in their fight for a fair first contract.” Rallies in support of the walkout will be held at four locations: outside the Hearst Tower in Manhattan; at the Hearst offices in Easton, PA; at the Hearst offices in Ann Arbor, MI; and the Hearst offices in Birmingham, AL. Tony Award Nominations: ‘Mean Girls,’ ‘SpongeBob’ And ‘Harry Potter’ Lead New Crop; ‘Angels,’ ‘Carousel’ Top Revivals
This morning’s Tony Award nominations favored the familiar, with Mean Girls and SpongeBob SquarePants leading the field with 12 nods apiece. The American debut of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child paced new plays with 10 nominations, and the revival of Angels in America had a strong showing with 11 nominations, most in Tony history for a play. ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3 Premiere Smashes Debut Weekend Viewing Record For Starz
Season 3 of Power Book II: Ghost has smashed viewership records for Starz . The premiere episode delivered 5.8M multi-platform viewers in its first three days after it debuted on March 17, which the network says is its biggest premiere weekend ever. That’s up quite significantly from the 362,000 viewers that tuned in to the episode’s initial live telecast. Weekend multi-platform viewership for the Season 3 debut was also up about 30% from the Season 2 premiere in November 2021. Interestingly, the Season 2 premiere drew 518,000 for its live broadcast, which was on a Sunday. Season 2 averaged a little over half a million live viewers per episode. Prior to the launch of Season 3, Starz signaled its confidence in the series with an early renewal for a fourth installment. Season 4 is currently in production in New York. Anderson Cooper To Host New CNN Sunday Primetime Series ‘The Whole Story’
Anderson Cooper will host a new Sunday primetime series for CNN , The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper , as the network works to revitalize its nighttime lineup. The new series, which will be a recurring weekly series, will feature single subject episodes from the network’s longform storytelling team. That will include special interviews, profiles and investigations. The debut is set for April 16 at 8 PM ET.
