It's official -- the soap opera era is officially DEAD ... now that ABC has announced they have cancelled "All My Children" and "One Life to Live." "All My Children" has been on the air since 1970 ... and "One Life to Live" debuted in 1968. The only soap remaining on ABC is "General Hospital." ABC released a statement saying, "Guided by extensive research into what today’s daytime viewers want and the changing viewing patterns of the audience, ABC is evolving the face of daytime television with the launch of two new shows." There is so much to appreciate about A.V. Rockwell ’s A Thousand and One . The film chronicles the lives of native New Yorkers from 1994-2005, which was a period of transition in NYC. The atmosphere began to change, as stop and frisk was over-utilized, gentrification was displacing the people of Harlem at rapid speed, and the culture of the city gave way to sterilization. Now there are even fewer resources available, the wage gap is beyond repair and it’s unaffordable. Rockwell drew inspiration from this and created a coming-of-age story about finding an identity and chosen family. The film starts in 1994, Inez De La Paz ( Teyana Taylor ) kidnaps her 6-year-old child Terry (Aaron Kingley Adetola) out of the foster care system. EXCLUSIVE : Fresh off his Sundance thriller Divinity , starring Stephen Dorff, Bella Thorne and Scott Bakula, writer-director Eddie Alcazar is teaming with British gaming mogul Paul Wedgwood to launch LA and London-based production company Entropy Pictures . Wedgwood, who most recently executive-produced thriller The Kill Room starring Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman, was a co-founder of successful video game developer Splash Damage. The duo’s new film, TV and transmedia firm Entropy will look to “seed and develop IP which is character-driven, high-concept and has commercial appeal”.
