Up North, Film & TV Festival Square Chapel, May 3-29 There’s no shortage of screen talent in the north and Square Chapel is bringing audiences a selection of the very best to talk about their careers in front of and behind the camera this May. Guests include Leeds born writer, Kay Mellor OBE in conversation on May 13. Mellor is probably best known for her work on several successful television drama series including Fat Friends, Band of Gold and The Syndicate. She will be joined on stage for this up-close and personal event by Neil Hurst who starred in Fat Friends the Musical. On May 22, audiences are invited to join Brian Blessed – the larger than life British actor known for his hearty, king-sized portrayals on film and television (and his booming voice). BOND girl Tania Mallet who starred in the blockbuster 1964 spy thriller Goldfinger has died aged 77. The British star was best known for her appearance as Tilly Masterson in the James Bond classic. She was born in Blackpool to father Henry Mallet, and Russian mother Olga Mironoff. The sad news was confirmed by James Bond bosses, who released a statement saying: "We are very sorry to hear that Tania Mallet who played Tilly Masterson in GOLDFINGER has passed away. "Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.' Mallet, a cousin of Dame Helen Mirren, started her career as a teenage model and went on to become one of the most famous faces of the 1950s and '60s. During her modelling career, a picture of her in bikini was sent to James Bond producer Cubby Broccoli, who brought her in to screen test for the role of Tatiana Romanova in 1957's From Russia With Love. DANIELLE Armstrong puts some heart into stripping off ahead of starring in The Real Full Monty. The Towie star, pictured in red lingerie with love hearts, is set to bare all on the ITV show later this year as a tribute to her best friend Sammy Brandon, who died of breast cancer. Danielle, 30, has been in rehearsals with Loose Woman Coleen Nolan, 53, actress Laurie Brett, 49, broadcaster Victoria Derbyshire, 50, singer Lisa Maffia, 39, actress Crissy Rock, 60, Love Island’s Megan Barton Hanson, 24, and tennis legend Martina Navratilova, 62, who will all strip naked on stage. THE year has only just begun but already we have said goodbye to some much-loved stars in the celebrity world. We remember those who have passed away so far this year. Which celebrities have died so far in 2019? Gene Okerlund, 76 WWE legend and Hall of Famer Mean Gene Okerlund passed away at age 76 on January 3. Gene was most recognisable for his backstage interviews working with both the WWE and formerly WCW. The WWE confirmed the death of Okerlund on Twitter, which came one year after his last appearance on TV. Okerlund began his career with WWE in 1984, where he would become notorious for his interviews with the likes of Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, and The Ultimate Warrior. Dean Ford, 72 The frontman of pop group Marmalade passed away on January 2. Dean died at the age of 72 after a lifetime recording music. VICTORIA Wood truly was one of the most talented and celebrated British comedians of our time. Here, we take a look back at her incredible life and achievcements... Who was Victoria Wood? Victoria Wood was a popular English actress who wrote plays, musical and sitcoms as well as doing live stand-up. The comedy actor was born in Prestwich, Lancashire, in 1953 and attended Bury Grammar School before going on to study drama at the University of Birmingham. She met her long-term collaborator Julie Walters in the early 1970s and the pair went on to star together on stage and screen. The pair first appeared on stage together in 1978 in a London production of In At The Death and their celebrated comedy Wood And Walters followed in 1981.
