How are your cats doing? Are they confused at you being home all the time? [Laughs] Sort of. They’re so happy. We’re enjoying being at home. I’ve tried for years to figure out a way to get two months off in the summer. I’ve never been able to do it. … [Read more...] about Judy Collins on Re-Releasing ‘Amazing Grace,’ Life in Quarantine

BY NO MEANS do I want to downplay the outrageousness here of the president of the United States attempting to use his power to threaten social media companies with censorship, especially when those companies take the rare step of trying to check Trump’s excesses. However, it is important to sort through the mess of this executive order to understand what’s really going on here. The rest of the album works that way, too, as a glimpse into life before the pandemic, FaceTime, and Zoom. No one knew then that emailing would eventually become iMessaging, the landline would become an ancient artifact, and FaceTime dates would replace physical dates, but here we are in a time where “E-Mail My Heart” rings true around the world. Only Britney Spears could pull off a cultural reset like this one. … [Read more...] about Did Britney Spears See the Future With ‘E-Mail My Heart’?
Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009) Amongst the pantheon of Nic Cage-Esque performances, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans ranks somewhere near the tippy top. Cage stars as detective Terence McDonagh, a man who has certainly seen better days. He has a nasty painkiller addiction, courtesy of an injury he sustained while rescuing a prisoner during Hurricane Katrina. Plus, there's his alcoholic father, his boozy wife, and his prostitute girlfriend. If that weren't already enough for him to navigate, he's just been saddled with a rookie partner intent on getting in his way. Now, Terence must try to keep himself from teetering over the edge of sanity, as he is tasked with investigating a series of murders that has left the city dangerously unsettled. … [Read more...] about 8 Nicolas Cage Movies That Prove He’s Perfect to Play Joe Exotic in Tiger King
