There’s a line outside of Atlanta’s Premium Kicks. Makes sense. Ask any rapper, athlete or local with decent fashion sense and they’ll tell you it’s the place to go for new Jordans. But something’s different about this line. You don’t see the twentysomethings in Supreme hoodies impatiently pecking away at their phones; nah, these are older white guys in trucker hats. When the security guard motions them in, they don’t walk to the left towards the wall of Air Maxes; they go to the right, through a glass door that leads them to another business under the same roof — the Card Shop . That queue outside? It’s actually formed for the first big card release of the new basketball season: 2020-21 NBA Hoops. Tim Burton Inspired Beetlejuice Bar Opens in New York
Beetlejuice is getting his own bar! And if you say your drink order three times, it will appear before you. Welcome to Beetle House in New York. It is a fine drinking and dining establishment that has been inspired by the iconic director Tim Burton , his 1988 classic Beetlejuice and some of the other movies he has unleashed upon the world. Beetle House is getting ready for its big grand opening in New York City's East Village later this year. You can visit the bar's official website here . It reveals that both the food being served and the drinks on hand will pay direct homage to the work of Tim Burton . While the bar very much looks like a juke joint where you might find the Ghost with the Most on his off-hours, that is certainly not the only movie being represented. Women in Love: ‘The World to Come’ Is Filled With the Wild Excitement of Romance
You smell like biscuits. Of all the details comprising Tallie and Abigail’s first kiss in Mona Fastvold’s The World to Come , this reaction, which comes from Abigail, may be the most surprising and disarming — moreso, even, than the fact that it’s a kiss between two married women in 19th-century America. It’s a covert but not wholly unexpected gesture between wives whose passions seem only to spring to life while their husbands are away. It’s a surprising line, in part, for containing so much. You smell like biscuits: like comfort, like domestic life, like women’s work, like the familiar. Like — stripped of the implicit insult — a wife. Biden Signs Voting Rights Executive Order on Anniversary of ‘Bloody Sunday’
President Joe Biden signed an executive order expanding voting rights on Sunday. Biden announced the signing during a remote video message to the Martin and Coretta King Unity Breakfast, marking the 56th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday,” during which voting rights marchers were brutally attacked by law enforcement on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Ala. Biden’s order directs federal agencies to develop plans that would promote voter registration, improve access to voting and fight against misinformation that the previous administration and its allies have continuously promoted. “It is the responsibility of the federal government to expand access to, and education about, voter registration and election information, and to combat misinformation, in order to enable all eligible Americans to participate in our democracy,” Biden’s order reads . Two More Women Come Forward With Sexual Harassment Claims Against Cuomo
Two more former aides to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo have told the press that he sexually harassed them, and leaders in the state assembly are calling for his resignation. Ana Liss, a former Cuomo aide, told the Wall Street Journal that the governor made inappropriate remarks and touched her when she served as a policy and operations aide from 2013-2015. Liss said that Cuomo also made “patronizing” comments, including referring to her as “sweetheart.” He would also ask her whether she had a boyfriend and once kissed her on the hand as she stood up from her desk, she said. And she described an incident where Cuomo kissed both her cheeks, put his arm on her lower back and grabbed her waist at a public event.
