7 Knockout Mike Tyson Cameos
From the beginning of his career, Mike Tyson has been irresistible to Hollywood’s various screens: when you’re the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world with a high-pitched lisp, you’re an instant surreal punchline. Iron Mike has played along in a slew of rap videos, movies ranging from Rocky Balboa to Scary Movie 5, and TV shows ranging from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit to The Simpsons (which rendered an unauthorized version of him as Drederick Tatum). Here’s seven of our favorite Tyson cameos over the years. Read an excerpt from Mike Tyson’s ‘Undisputed Truth’ 1. DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, “I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson” (1989) Back when Will Smith was a rapper rather than box-office king and show-biz patriarch, he needed a hit to follow up “Parents Just Don’t Understand.” He came up with this tall tale about having an attack of hubris and getting in the ring with Tyson (despite the opening warning of somebody who claimed he saw a Tyson … [Read more...] about 7 Knockout Mike Tyson Cameos
Watch Drake Join Backstreet Boys to Perform ‘I Want It That Way’ at Toronto Concert
Backstreet Boys welcomed “sixth member” Drake onstage to perform “I Want It That Way” during the boy band’s concert Saturday in the rapper’s hometown of Toronto. Closing out their main set at the Budweiser Stage, the quintet brought out Drake, who told the audience a story about why the 1999 hit single means so much to him. “At 13 years old, I had a bar mitzvah, and at my bar mitzvah, for the first time in my life, this girl I was in love with came up to me and one of the greatest songs in the world was playing, and she asked me if I would dance with her,” he said. “And it was the first time ever felt acknowledged, and it was the first time I ever felt like I had a shot at being cool.” “I Want It That Way” — “one of the greatest songs of all time,” Drake added — soundtracked that meaningful moment for the rapper, and on Friday he performed the track as an honorary Backstreet Boy, even integrating his own hit “Hold On, We’re Going Home” into the rendition. “If she can see me … [Read more...] about Watch Drake Join Backstreet Boys to Perform ‘I Want It That Way’ at Toronto Concert
Drake Performs ‘I Want It That Way’ with Backstreet Boys in Toronto
Boy Band Break Drake wanted it a certain way Saturday night ... the Backstreet way. Drizzy took the short drive from his massive estate to the Budweiser Stage in Toronto to catch a performance of the famed boy band ... and it didn't take long for the Backstreet Boys to invite the city's most famous resident up on stage. Drake joined the boys in "I Want It That Way," but before singing the group's biggest hit ... he told the audience how the song had an impact on his life. It goes like this ... Drake said when he was 13 he was an awkward kid with a serious crush on a girl he knew, but apparently, the feelings weren't reciprocal, at least on the surface. At Drake's Bar Mitzvah, the girl was there and came up to him and asked him if he wanted to dance ... and the song was "I Want It That Way." Drake said it was the first time he felt cool. Drake, who called the tune one of the greatest of all time, and the group then broke into song, and the … [Read more...] about Drake Performs ‘I Want It That Way’ with Backstreet Boys in Toronto

The 25 Best True-Crime Podcasts of All Time
Ten years ago, most people hadn’t even heard of a podcast. Now, they’re an integral part of the media landscape, and none more so than those about true crime . To rank the best, we polled true-crime aficionados about their favorite shows, then sifted through the top choices. Whether they cover a new case each episode or present a story over the course of a season, these picks each shaped the genre in their own way. Some are the results of deep investigative journalism; others are by amateur sleuths trying to help families find answers. Some focus on bringing publicity to cold cases in underrepresented communities, and some changed the way we think about crime storytelling altogether. Perhaps equally important, they’re all great listening, promising the kind of captivating intrigue that continues to draw generation after generation to true crime: tragedy, mystery, a search for answers, and always the hunger for justice. 25. Kerry Fights Back
“I’m going straight to the White House,” John Kerry says. “I’m thrilled with where the campaign is right now.” Just 90 minutes earlier, on this warm afternoon in late September, he stood on an outdoor stage at the University of Pennsylvania campus in downtown Philadelphia and gazed out onto a sea of 20,000 supporters. The school had hosted only one other rally this big in recent memory – when Bill Clinton came through on his re-election tour in 1996. It’s heady stuff when a first-time presidential candidate draws crowds comparable in size to those of a popular sitting president. “I feel as if we have finally gotten the American people and the press simultaneously focused on the real issues,” he says. “Things I’ve been talking about for two years. George Bush has made catastrophic mistakes in Iraq, catastrophic mistakes in foreign policy. He’s shown bad judgment, made bad choices about how to proceed in a war on terror. I think he’s also out of touch with the American people on what … [Read more...] about Kerry Fights Back

Tom Cruise’s 60th Birthday Honored by ‘M:I’ Director, Wild Plane Stunt
Twitter/@chrismcquarrie Tom Cruise wasn't born on the Fourth of July, but came close -- and on his special day, a filmmaking partner is honoring him by basically saying ... never change, you nutty bastard. The actor turned 60 Sunday, and to ring in the milestone ... director Christopher McQuarrie posted a wild photo to celebrate TC and the death-defying stunts that he still carries out himself to this day ... including on the forthcoming 'Mission: Impossible' movie(s). Getty As you can see, there's Tommy dangling from the wing of an old-timey biplane ... without anyone in the cockpit, it seems. Just Tom hanging on solo, without much assistance. McQuarrie didn't add much context to this pic -- other than wishing Tom a happy 60th -- but it's pretty obvious this is from either "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One" or 'Part Two' ... both of which CMQ is helming with Tom in the driver's seat. Tom Cruise practices insane stunt on … [Read more...] about Tom Cruise’s 60th Birthday Honored by ‘M:I’ Director, Wild Plane Stunt
