Fresh Off the Boat star Constance Wu is returning to series television as the female lead opposite Chris Pratt in Amazon’s conspiracy-thriller series The Terminal List , based on Jack Carr’s bestselling novel. Pratt also executive produces the series along with Antoine Fuqua, who directs, and writer David DiGilio. The Terminal List is a co-production from Amazon Studios and Civic Center Media in association with MRC Television. Taylor Kitsch also stars. Written by DiGilio, who also serves as showrunner, The Terminal List follows James Reece (Pratt) after his entire platoon of Navy SEALs is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. Reece returns home to his family with conflicting memories of the event and questions about his culpability. However, as new evidence comes to light, Reece discovers dark forces working against him, endangering not only his life but the lives of those he loves. Roxy Shih, who recently directed Whose Child for Ninth House Films, will direct from a screenplay by Jessica Landry. Patricia Velasquez, and Sylvia Kwan will join Hu. The film follows Brenda Lee (Hu) who is diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. The Motion Picture Sound Editors  are out with nominations for the 68th annual Golden Reel Awards , which recognize sound artists in 22 categories spanning film, TV, toons, computer entertainment and student productions. Winners will be announced during an international virtual trophy ceremony on Sunday, April 16. The Golden Reels also will honor Mad Max franchise director George Miller with the 2021 MPSE Filmmaker Award. “We’re very excited about this year’s MPSE Golden Reel Awards,” MPSE president Mark Lanza said. “It will feature a dynamic, virtual format that will be great fun and allow people from around the world to participate. Whether by accident or design, the ultra-low-budget Language Lessons feels like a definitive film for the Covid-19 era, as the two main actors never appear in the same shot together until the very end. Seemingly created on two computers, this exceedingly modest tale of a Spanish-language instructor and pupil who meet online becomes more genially engaging as it goes along, although it never aims very high other than as a technical experiment that more or less succeeds. It plays just fine on home equipment and it’s hard to imagine that there would be anything to be gained from experiencing this Berlinale Special world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival on the big screen.
