Naga Chaitanya-Nagarjuna Akkineni-starrer Bangarraju has put up an impressive show at the box office. The film directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala hit the cinemas on January 14 as a Sankranti release. With no major releases to clash with, the film started off its theatrical run on a high note, however, its collection faltered on working days and faintly rose on weekends. The film which collected Rs 9.06 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on its opening day, has now crossed Rs 30 crore share. On the 12th day of its theatrical run, Bangarraju' s total share and gross collection stand at Rs 33.01 crore and Rs 54 crore respectively. The total worldwide collection of the film is now Rs 36.15 crore (share), while the gross collection amounts to Rs 61.5 crore. RLJE Films last night acquired U.S. rights to Riley Stearns ’ thriller Dual in a competitive bidding situation, striking a low-mid seven figure deal for the film, which recently premiered in U.S. Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival. XYZ Films, CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group closed the deal with RLJE Films, with the former company also handling world rights outside of the U.S. The film is slated for release in theaters this year. Dual centers on Sarah ( Karen Gillan ), a woman who, upon receiving a terminal diagnosis, opts for a cloning procedure to ease her loss on her friends and family. EXCLUSIVE: The Cherokee Nation Film Office has announced a $1 million incentive geared at enticing more film and television productions to shoot within the boundaries of Cherokee Nation. In doing so they aim to take advantage of the recent boom in film and television production in Oklahoma. The film office’s mission is to increase the presence of Native Americans in every level of the film and television industries, while creating opportunities for economic development and jobs in the Cherokee Nation. Applications for the new film incentive will open on March 1, 2022. With a yearly cap of $1 million, this incentive will offer a base 20% cash rebate on production costs rather than a tax rebate. In order to qualify, a production’s spending must take place within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation in Northeastern Oklahoma. New Republic Pictures has signed Jake Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker’s Nine Stories to a first-look feature film production deal. It’s the second first look New Republic has made in recent weeks, following two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett and her Dirty Films company. Sony Pictures has acquired global rights to Rosalind Ross’ feature directorial debut Father Stu , starring and produced by Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg . Written by Ross, the film follows the true-life story of boxer-turned-priest, Father Stuart Long, whose journey from self-destruction to redemption inspired countless people along the way. Sony has set a theatrical release of Father Stu for Good Friday, April 15. The move comes in the wake of MGM/UAR’s Thirteen Lives shifting from Easter weekend to Nov. 18. AMC boss Adam Aron has just fired off a letter to Universal Studios Chairman Donna Langley in response to NBC Universal CEO Jeff Shell ’s statements in the Wall Street Journal this morning about the $95M PVOD success of Trolls World Tour . As Aron explains to Langley in the letter (read it below), he initially got it: Theaters were closed, and the decision to take Trolls World Tour into homes was an exception.
