This time, West took to Instagram to share a photoshopped New York Times front page that reads: “Skete Davidson Dead at 28.” An optimistic take on the morbid headline would be that with Skete Davidson dead and gone, West’s relentless mocking of Pete Davidson could finally come to an end. The legal battle over whether production company Sweetpea Entertainment or toy giant Hasbro owns sequel rights to Dungeons & Dragons came has come to an end — at least for now. But the seven-day trial that wrapped late Tuesday in federal court in downtown LA did not end quietly. “Hasbro cannot have it both ways,” attorney Patricia Glaser said in her closing statement, calling out the company for disputing a 2010 D&D movie sequel but not a 2005 one and dragging her client, Sweetpea and its owner Courtney Solomon, into court. EXCLUSIVE: Irish actor Anthony Boyle has signed with WME for representation. Boyle was most recently tapped to star as John Wilkes Booth alongside Tobia Menzies in the Apple limited series Manhunt. The series, which is currently filming, is based on James Swanson’s book Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer. Described as part historical fiction and part conspiracy thriller, Manhunt will center on the aftermath of the first American presidential assassination and the fight to preserve and protect the ideals that were the foundation of Lincoln’s Reconstruction plans. The tech giant is launching Missed Fortune , an audio series centered around the true story around one man’s years-long quest to find a million dollar treasure hidden in 2010 by eccentric art dealer Forrest Fenn . It is the company’s latest original podcast as the company continues to ramp up its move into original audio series. Previous originals include The Line, Hooked, Run, Bambi, Run and Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy – a strategy that it has been expanding on after spending years merely in the distribution side of the podcast business. The company, which runs its original podcasts through its television arm Apple TV+, will launch the first three episodes of the nine-part series on August 15. The Veep and Avenue 5 creator and the Oscar-winning director have scored a pilot order for comedy The Franchise at the premium cable network. The half-hour project takes a wry look at superhero movie-making. It follows a hopeful crew trapped inside the dysfunctional, nonsensical, joyous hellscape of franchise superhero movie-making. If and when they finally make the day, the question they must face — is this Hollywood’s new dawn or cinema’s last stand? Is this a dream factory or a chemical plant?
