It sucks that we're going to have to wait another year before we see the supernatural adventures of Stranger Things continue with Season 3. But, there's a good reason for the delay. According to Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of Original Content, Stranger Things Season 3 won’t be premiering until next summer because the Duffer Brothers want it to be bigger and better than Season 2. While talking to The Wrap, she said: "Well, it’s a hand-crafted show. You know, the Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy have worked really hard and they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year. And so, they really want to take the time to get it right. I think it’s gonna be a fantastic season, it’s gonna be worth the wait." This news sucks if you're an impatient person, but, as the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait. If they end up delivering an epic third season that blows us all away, this the … [Read more...] about There’s a Good Reason Why STRANGER THINGS Season 3 Isn’t Premiering Until Next Summer

CULTURE & ARTS 04/26/2018 02:47 pm ET Let's break down the show's eerie parallels to our current news cycle. And attempt to avoid having a panic attack. By Emma Gray and Laura Bassett Warning: Spoilers for “The Handmaid’s Tale” below! June (the handmaid formerly known as Offred) is back ... and she’s free. Maybe? Sort of? The second season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” premiered this week, and it was a stressful but fruitful (see what we did there?) viewing experience. In the first episode, June (Elisabeth Moss) experiences the consequences of her defiant Season 1 stand against Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd). The handmaids are tortured back into submission, but by the end of the episode, June finds her way to freedom ― temporary as it might be ― thanks to Mayday and driver/lover Nick (Max Minghella). In Episode 2, we head to the colonies, where Emily (Alexis Bledel), and eventually Janine (Madeline Brewer), are among the … [Read more...] about ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 2 Is A Horror Movie Women Can’t Stop Watching
WASHINGTON — It was crowned Best TV Drama at both the Emmys and Golden Globes. On Wednesday, “The Handmaid’s Tale” returns for another harrowing season on Hulu. What can we expect? WTOP caught up with Emmy nominee and D.C. native Samira Wiley. “I actually usually tell people, ‘Do not binge watch this show.’ You binge watch something else, not ‘The Handmaid’s Tale!’ You need time to process. Once a week,” Wiley said. “It’s twisted.” Based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel, the story is set in a dystopian future where a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship forces the few remaining fertile women to live as concubines, raping them to procreate for the wealthy folks of Gilead. This includes June (Elisabeth Moss), who is nicknamed Offred (“Of Fred”) by her captor Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes). Is she doomed to this existence or can she rebel with her best friend Moira (Wiley)? “This … [Read more...] about Q&A: As ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ returns, Samira Wiley talks Season 2, DC roots
Discovery showrunners Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts discussed the show’s tone and where they’re heading. We have a few suggestions. As reported by Comicbook.com, Berg and Harberts were on a panel at WonderCon, where they were asked about Discovery‘s tonal difference from previous Treks. First, Berg assured that Discovery‘s creatives aren’t out to plot by shock value—perhaps having considered some of the criticism of the first season relying so heavily on Big Twist Moments like Tyler being a Klingon, Doctor Culber’s murder, and Lorca’s Mirrorverse origins. (Since Tyler and Lorca’s twists had been guessed by fans for months, these also did not land with so much shock as yawns.) “I think that we are aware of the fact that it is a different era and it’s a different format for the show,” Berg says. “I don’t think we’re all necessarily gunning for shock value. Everything always comes … [Read more...] about Star Trek: Discovery Showrunners Say Season 2 Will Be More “Trekian.” Here’s How They Should Start
