EXCLUSIVE : There was a lot of focus on the fact that Jay Leno’s Garage was canceled by CNBC on Thursday, but it turns out the rubber has met the road on the executive front as well. The cancellation , which also included Money Court , hosted by Kevin O’Leary and Bethenny Frankel, is part of a swath of changes brought in by CNBC President KC Sullivan. The news network is moving out of original, primetime entertainment programming and Deadline understands that the two execs that oversaw it — Denise Contis and Timothy Kuryak – will exit as part of the restructure, along with other execs across functions including marketing. It will focus on repeats of shows like Shark Tank, Undercover Boss and American Greed. EXCLUSIVE : Byron Allen ’s Allen Media Group Motion Pictures has tapped screenwriter Evan Daugherty ( Divergent ) to pen the sci-fi action feature, The Ultimate Weapon . The film based on a story by Allen will be financed by AMGMP, with exec producers to include Allen, Carolyn Folks, Jennifer Lucas and Matthew Signer. The Ultimate Weapon takes place in a version of the present day where World War II is not over. In fact, history has shown us that the Nazis were actually researching a weapon far greater than the atomic bomb, investing heavily in the ability to achieve time travel. Paul Feig & Sam Raimi Team On ‘Suburban Hell’ Adaptation For Legendary
EXCLUSIVE: Legendary Entertainment, Feigco Entertainment and Ghost House have closed a deal for a feature adaptation of the novel Suburban Hell from author Maureen Kilmer. Joanna Calo has been tapped to write the script, with Paul Feig and Laura Fischer of Feigco Entertainment producing alongside Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert of Ghost House. Romel Adam and Jose Cañas will oversee for Ghost House. Published in 2022, the novel tells the story of a tight-knit group of suburban moms whose friendship is put to the ultimate test when one of them becomes possessed by an evil spirit. The genre-bending premise brings together Feig and Raimi, with Feig being one of the top producers of comedy over the past decade while Raimi has been a horror master going back to the ’80s. New Line Picks Up Will Simmons Black List Script ‘Undo’, Sets Ariel Schulman & Henry Joost To Direct, Beau Flynn Producing
EXCLUSIVE: New Line has set Secret Headquarters filmmakers Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman to direct Undo, from Will Simmons ’ 2022 Black List screenplay. The action thriller is currently in development. Undo follows a former getaway driver who comes into possession of a watch that allows its user to go back in time, but only by one minute. Patricia Heaton’s Fox Comedy Sets Carol Leifer & Andy Gordon As Writers; Premise Revealed
EXCLUSIVE : Patricia Heaton ‘s potential return to television is taking shape. The multi-camera comedy from Kapital Entertainment starring and executive produced by the Emmy winner, which was set up at Fox in 2021 with a script-to-series commitment, has found its writers. Comedy veterans Carol Leifer and Andy Gordon have been tapped to pen the untitled half-hour, which also has homed in on a premise. Heaton is set to star as the host of an upscale lifestyle show, sent to prison for embezzlement and tax evasion.
