On Thursday (or Friday, depending on your time zone), Kygo will release his virtual concert, performed from atop a snowy mountain in Norway’s Sunnmore Alps. To make it happen, the Norwegian DJ and pop hitmaker spent more than $100,000 of his own money, according to manager Myles Shear. “Since I started touring, this is the longest time I’ve gone without playing a show so I wanted to do something really special in Norway,” Kygo tells Rolling Stone . “To me, the Sunnmore Alps are a perfect setting that displays the beauty of Norway. Growing up, I’ve spent a lot of time skiing and hiking in the mountains across Norway and wanted to show everyone who hasn’t been to Norway a bit of what it’s really like.” Related Stories Kings of Leon Will Be the First Band to Release an Album as an NFT Shawn Mendes' Manager Is Helping Launch a New NFT Marketplace Related Stories From Soup Nazis to Nuts: 100 Best 'Seinfeld' Characters 'Silence of the Lambs': 'It … [Read more...] about Kygo Helicoptered a Piano Up a Mountain for His Virtual Concert

What If Iron Maiden Wrote Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’?
What would Metallica ’s biggest hit, “Enter Sandman,” sound like if it were written by one of the band’s chief influences, Iron Maiden ? YouTuber Börje Unchained is attempting to answer that with a cheeky cover of the song written in the style of Maiden’s mid-Eighties records. In the clip, which comes via Metal Hammer , he wears masks of Maiden’s members as he recasts the iconic opening riff in “Sandman” as a more ponderous, melancholy line (with stacked guitar harmonies of course) and keeps the shtick going into the verse riff, which now has ostentatious trills and even more Maidenesque harmonies. Then vocalist Robin Roy does his best impression of Bruce Dickinson’s air-raid siren wail. The only thing missing is a Vincent Price-like voice doing the “Now I lay me down to sleep” prayer, à la Maiden’s “Number of the Beast.” Related Stories Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Sets Induction Ceremony Date, Location See Metallica Perform 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' at … [Read more...] about What If Iron Maiden Wrote Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’?
