Like Richard Nixon’s bestselling 1962 book Six Crises, Woody Allen ’s Crisis In Six Scenes is part stump speech, part career retrospective and a whole lot of filler. After Allen’s nearly 50-year absence from television, the September 30-launching Amazon series is a limp effort from an American icon. In a role he’s been playing for decades, Allen portrays Sidney J. Munsinger, an upscale suburban ad-man-turned-frustrated novelist who now is trying to write a sitcom. To joke, the late-1960s-set Crisis does little to hide Allen’s contempt for the gig, literally and figuratively. Elaine May is Sidney’s psychologist spouse Kay and contemporary wild child and new The Voice judge Miley Cyrus is an on-the-run radical named Lennie Dale, who lands on their doorstep. Maybe the fact that none of Crisis ‘ six episodes clocks in at more than 30 minutes reveals just how little Allen seems to care about the medium and the possibilities of the platform because the meandering … [Read more...] about ‘Crisis In Six Scenes’ Review: Woody Allen’s Limp Amazon Series Is All Old Tricks

Fox Sells Out Super Bowl Ad Inventory, With Some 30-Second Spots Fetching Upwards Of $7 Million
Fox has officially sold out all of its advertising inventory for Super Bowl LVII , with peak prices surpassing $7 million for a 30-second spot. Sunday’s game in Arizona between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will cap a year of stellar ratings for the NFL during the regular season and the playoffs. Fox had signaled before the start of the season last September that it had already had takers for 95% of Super Bowl spots, an unusually fast start for the sales process even by the standards of the most-watched TV broadcast of the year. Select ads commanded more than $7 million for 30 seconds of airtime, but on average pricing came in at between $6 million and $7 million for 30 seconds, according to Fox Sports EVP of Ad Sales Mark Evans. The official sellout came during the week of January 23, he said. BBC Apologizes For Captioning Viola Davis Grammys Image With “Beyoncé’s Big Night”
The BBC has been forced to apologize after an image of Viola Davis from January’s Golden Globes was shown on its news channel with a headline identifying the Oscar winner as history-maker Beyoncé. BBC News’ rolling coverage of the Grammys included a few seconds period when the image of Davis was matched with the caption “Beyoncé’s Big Night,” before the segment moved on to the next image. BBC News has in the past hour apologized via a Twitter statement and said the error “fell below the BBC’s usual standards.” “We apologise for the mistake last night when our news channels briefly showed a photograph of Viola Davis from January’s Golden Globes alongside a headline about Beyoncé at yesterday’s Grammys,” said the statement. One BBC journalist, however, pointed out on Twitter that the error came as part of a “sequence about the other Grammy winners,” which is why it had indicated “Beyoncé’s big night.” He denied the Oscar-winning Doubt and Widows star had … [Read more...] about BBC Apologizes For Captioning Viola Davis Grammys Image With “Beyoncé’s Big Night”

Blige , Robert Glasper , Lucky Daye and PJ Morton . Getty When Glasper was announced as the winner for his album "Black Radio III," CB took to Instagram to ridicule the now five-time Grammy-winning pianist, songwriter and record producer. Chris posted a Google screenshot of Glasper and wrote, “BRO WHO THE F–K IS THIS?” CB's vitriol didn't stop there...he posed the question again in another IG post...“YALL PLAYING WHO DA F–K IS THIS?” And, CB did it a third time ...“WHO THE F*CK IS ROBERT GLASPER.” CB ended his tantrum by displaying a photo of himself playing the harmonica with the caption ... “NEW LEVEL UNLOCKED!” and “HARMONICA BREEZY.” Getty One person bluntly wrote, "What a loser." Another said, … [Read more...] about Chris Brown Mocks Grammy Winner After Defeat
