EXCLUSIVE : Paramount Pictures ‘ new Mean Girls film, based on the Tony-nominated Broadway show and the classic film comedy that inspired it, has found its Kevin G. in up-and-comer Mahi Alam ( American Born Chinese ), with veteran comedic actor Connor Ratliff ( Search Party ) also coming on for a role. Alam’s character Kevin, portrayed in the original movie by Rajiv Surendra, is the Mathlete friend of protagonist Cady, who harbors a crush on her new friend Janis at North Shore High. Kathy Whitworth , who won more golf tournaments than any man or woman on U.S. tours, died Saturday. She was 83 and collapsed at a neighborhood Christmas party at Flower Mound, Texas, where she lived, according to Christina Lance, an LPGA spokeswoman. Whitworth’s 88 tour victories saw her as the Ladies Pro Golfing Assn. tour’s leading money winner eight times. She became the first woman pro to win more than $1 million in prize money, and earned more than $1.7 million lifetime in an era when purses were modest. Tiger Woods, with 82 victories on the PGA Tour, is the only active golfer anywhere near Whitworth’s total. Sam Snead, who died in 2002, is also credited with 82 PGA victories, and Mickey Wright won 82 times on the LPGA Tour. Whitworth was known for her putting and bunker game. Tony Dow , the actor who personified the role of America’s big brother as the elder sibling Wally Cleaver on the TV classic sitcom Leave It to Beaver , died today. He was 77, and had been battling cancer. His death comes a day after his passing was mistakenly reported by his management team and his wife. BFI Distribution has picked up Tilda Swinton and Joanna Hogg ’s latest collaboration, The Eternal Daughter , for theatrical release in the UK and Ireland. The pic will hit cinemas this autumn and form the centerpiece of a Joanna Hogg retrospective season hosted at BFI Southbank that will also include a programme of films that have influenced her work. The Eternal Daughter is the BFI’s second acquisition from A24, following the Irish drama God’s Creatures, starring Paul Mescal and Emily Watson earlier this year. The film also marks Hogg and Swinton’s third collaboration following the acclaimed two-part Souvenir series, which starred Swinton’s daughter Honor Swinton Byrne.
