Burger King Says Women Belong in the Kitchen, Sexist Culinary Campaign

· August 3, 2021 ·

Getty Burger King has a funny way of promoting gender equality -- because it said something totally sexist about women ... as a way to plug a new initiative supporting them. Yes, this is what honchos at BK's British office thought would be a good campaign to hype a new scholarship program -- tweeting early Monday, "Women belong in the kitchen." As the Internet started dragging them, BK added ... "If they want to, of course. Yet only 20% of chefs are women. We're on a mission to change the gender ratio in the restaurant industry by empowering female employees with the opportunity to pursue a culinary career. #IWD." See what they did there? Piss off everyone with one disgustingly misogynistic tweet, then hit 'em with ... wait, we're doing a good thing! BK says the scholarship is meant to uplift their female employees, who wanna move past fry cook and be bona fide chefs. BTW ... March 8 is International Women's Day -- a worldwide holiday aimed at celebrating … [Read more...] about Burger King Says Women Belong in the Kitchen, Sexist Culinary Campaign

5 Elements Food Entrepreneurs Should Consider Upon Entering a Post-Pandemic World

· March 8, 2021 ·

The end of WWI gave rise to the Roaring ’20s, a time of economic rebound and recovery. Future release from Covid-19 restrictions will likely invite us to gather again in a similar fashion: Music, food, travel, theater and sports will all come roaring back. Here are my predictions of what to look for in food culture specifically, beyond digital, delivery and drive-thrus, after the pandemic. For those beloved restaurants that have survived, people will pack their dining rooms again. The comfort of known experiences , familiar staff and great food will help revive neighborhood spots as anchors in the communities they serve. These are the restaurants that were able to stick with us through the dark days of the pandemic, and we reciprocated with takeout, delivery and chilly outdoor dining compromises with the hope it would help. How Challenging Customers Can Drive Business Value

· March 8, 2021 ·

Life would be so easy without having to deal with challenging customers, but being in business means being in competition, and that means delivering on your customers’ needs, wants or demands. As entrepreneurs, we are in competition to develop, sell and deliver innovative solutions that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. According to the Havard Business Review, the cost of acquiring new customers can be anywhere between five and 25 times more than retaining existing ones. Furthermore, industry research from Bain & Company indicates that growing existing customer relationships can be more profitable than developing new ones. Additional research supports how the useful concept of customer lifetime value (CLV) can help business leaders deliver more value to their clients . In addition to these financial discussions, it’s my experience that striving to retain existing customers can drive overall performance improvements and lead to exciting product innovations. … [Read more...] about How Challenging Customers Can Drive Business Value

With pubs still closed in many states, massive parties frowned upon, travel to Ireland advised against, and parades canceled (including the world’s largest march down Fifth Avenue in New York City), the pandemic has cast a pall on St. Patrick’s Day for the second year in a row. But just because it is not going to be easy being green on March 17 doesn’t mean it will be impossible to toast the life of devout snake whisperer St. Patrick, Irish heritage, and Emerald Isle culture. Last year, we were caught off guard, but now we have a year of pivots, virtual holidays, and partying responsibly behind us so you won’t even need the luck of the Irish to put together a fecking good at-home fete.
