The Queens Drive-In , which became a lifeline for New York film distributors, festival organizers, awards campaigners and cooped-up cinephiles in 2020, has booked an encore for this spring. Kicking off the 2021 slate will be a screening of Coming 2 America on March 5, the same day the Eddie Murphy sequel will start streaming for Amazon Prime subscribers. The event is free and open to the public with RSVP, and Amazon Studios will provide free food and merchandise. Screenings at the venue, which can accommodate up to 200 cars, are slated to continue through June. The drive-in news follows word from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo earlier this week that indoor movie theaters can reopen in the city on March 5, with limited capacity. The coronavirus pandemic has kept theaters shuttered for nearly a year. Young Indiana Jones Star Would Love to Play a New Role in Indiana Jones 5
Confirmed at the end of last year, Harrison Ford will return as iconic adventuring archaeologist Indiana Jones one final time in Indiana Jones 5 . While we do not yet know who, if anyone, from previous installments in the franchise will appear, one actor who would relish the opportunity is The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles star Sean Patrick Flanery. The actor somewhat unsurprisingly revealed that he would not be able to turn a role if asked, though he would never expect to walk in Ford's shoes. "Man, I can probably count on one hand the amount of people that wouldn't want to do something that George Lucas originated. Being in a Harrison Ford film, I mean, that falls into that same Dexter category. But having said that, I mean, to me, Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones. You know what I mean? They've got my 20 bucks at the theater every time they put one of those out. Absolutely." ‘Test Pattern’ Is a Masterclass in Body Language
“I never ask people, just casually, for their phone number,” Evan (Will Brill) says. This is how he greets Renesha (Brittany S. Hall), a woman he met in a bar sometime before, whose number he’d asked for in front of her friends, whose shyness seemed, at the time, endearing. Now they’re two strangers in a grocery store parking lot in Texas having an awkward run-in because, it’s clear, he never called — not that Renesha expected he would. “Honestly,” he says, “I woke up in the morning and was like, ‘What do I even do with this?’ ” To which Renesha replies with the obvious: “Call it.” They recover from this — somehow. Test Pattern , written and directed by the startlingly smart Shatara Michelle Ford (and currently rentable on distributor Kino Lorber’s virtual cinema, Kino Marquee ), is nothing if not surprising for the changes it marks in these two people, beginning with the fact that this parking lot encounter leads to an impromptu first date. Evan and Renesha do not kiss … [Read more...] about ‘Test Pattern’ Is a Masterclass in Body Language
