Damar Hamlin is kickstarting a campaign to spread CPR awareness and training following his on-field medical scare earlier this month ... teaming up with the American Heart Association to create the " 3 For Heart " challenge. In the midst of their third month as newly appointed DC co-Bosses, James Gunn and Peter Safran finally revealed their plans for an inter-connective universe for the comic book giant spanning largely film and TV in a strategy unlike the Warner Bros. brand has ever had before. Entitled Chapter One, “Gods and Monsters”, a portion of what will unfold between 2025-2027 includes five movies including the Gunn-penned Superman Legacy , a new Batman and Robin title, The Brave and the Bold , a Swamp Thing feature, and films centering around Supergirl and the deeper universe DC rogue squad The Authority . Noah’s Day Zero Productions has hired Chloe Ifshin as VP of Scripted Television and Eugene Han as Head of Unscripted Development. It comes after the departures of Devon Quinn and Ashley Dizon and as its television slate is ramping up with projects such as The Turning Point for MSNBC, For All Humankind for Discovery+, and Kid of the Year for Nickelodeon. The company is also developing a scripted series adaptation of Kiese Laymon’s novel Long Division. Quinn, a former Marvel TV exec, was previously SVP, Television, overseeing live-action and animated TV development and production. ‘The Phantom Of The Opera’ Tops Broadway Box Office; ‘The Piano Lesson’ Closes On High Note
The long-running The Phantom of the Opera was once again Broadway’s highest grossing show last week, taking in a mighty $2,483,532 for the week ending Jan. 29, outpacing runners-up Funny Girl ($1,872,862) and Hamilton ($1,871,921) by a noticeable margin. The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical at the Majestic has experienced a remarkable resurgence in interest (and box office) since announcing a closing date last year (the final performance, after a 35-year run, is April 16). Earlier this month, Phantom reported its 20 millionth audience member since opening in 1988. Overall, the 23 Broadway shows on the boards last week held steady with the previous week, grossing $25,705,039, with attendance of 206,578 at about 94% of capacity. The average ticket price for all the shows was $124.43, reflecting the discount pricing of some shows during the annual NYC Broadway Week promotion (which continues through Feb. 12). Tennis Star Alexander Zverev Not Facing Discipline From ATP, ‘Insufficient Evidence’
Getty Tennis star Alexander Zverev will not face any disciplinary action after an investigation found there was "insufficient evidence" to substantiate domestic abuse claims made against him, the Association of Tennis Professionals announced Tuesday. "Based on a lack of reliable evidence and eyewitness reports," the ATP said in a statement released on Tuesday, "in addition to conflicting statements by Sharypova, Zverev, and other interviewees, the investigation was unable to substantiate the allegations of abuse, or determine that violations of ATP’s On-Site Offenses or Player Major Offenses rules took place." Plans To Expand ‘Dexter’ Franchise Only An Idea … For Now
Since Dexter : New Blood was such a success for Showtime, there has to be some kind of killer sequel in the works, right? Not exactly, Deadline has learned. There have been talks about expanding the Dexter universe but that’s all they are for now — talks . One of the ideas that has been discussed is a prequel but nothing is solid at this time. A spokesperson for Showtime declined comment. Interest in the future of the franchise has taken a front seat after Paramount Global said Tuesday that Showtime will no longer be a stand-alone brand. The company is rebranding the premium cable network as Paramount+ with Showtime as part of a wide-ranging change that also brings the two brands together in the streaming world.
