EXCLUSIVE: Jacob Batalon , Alana Boden , Adain Bradley and Avantika have been cast as the leads in Screen Gems and Alloy Entertainment’s Horrorscope , based on Alloy’s same-name novel, written by Nicholas Adams. Humberly González and Wolfgang Novogratz have also joined the cast. Anna Halberg and Spenser Cohen wrote the script and will make their feature film directorial debut. Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton are producing through Alloy, along with Scott Glassgold of Ground Control. Cohen and Halberg are also on board to executive produce. CAA Completes Acquisition Of ICM Partners
Almost nine months to the day after the surprise announcement that CAA was acquiring ICM Partners , the deal is finally going through after getting government approval to create a mega agency in the biggest linkup in the space since the WMA-Endeavor merger. More than 50 positions are expected to be eliminated; that includes the couple of dozen agents and other staffers who have left in the past few months after the regulatory approval process dragged on, delaying the deal by about six months from the time frame CAA and ICM originally had projected. As Deadline reported earlier this month , the ICM agents whom the combined company wants to keep recently received formal invitations and non-negotiable offers, which have not been received well. NATPE Moving Flagship Event From Miami To The Bahamas From 2023
The National Association of Television Program Executives ( NATPE ) is moving its flagship January event from its long-time home in Miami 180 miles across the water to a new base in Nassau in the Bahamas . The plan, which many international execs have been aware of for several months, takes NATPE to the Bahamas Mar Resort and Conference Center from next year’s event, which takes place on January 17-19. This marks the first time NATPE will not take place on American soil. The Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami has been NATPE’s home since 2011, though the previous two editions have been held online due to the Covid pandemic. Prior to that it was held in Las Vegas and further back in cities such as New Orleans, LA, New York, Houston and San Francisco. Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek Gets New Long-Term Contract
Disney CEO Bob Chapek has gotten a new long term contract as the the board meets this week. Directors voted unanimously to replace his current deal, which expires in Feb. of 2023, with a new three-year agreement starting July 1. “Disney was dealt a tough hand by the pandemic, yet with Bob at the helm, our businesses—from parks to streaming—not only weathered the storm, but emerged in a position of strength,” said Susan Arnold, Chairman of the Board. “In this important time of growth and transformation, the Board is committed to keeping Disney on the successful path it is on today, and Bob’s leadership is key to achieving that goal.
