UPDATE, writethru : Paramount/Skydance/Fox’s Terminator: Dark Fate found little salvation in its wider offshore rollout this weekend. Handled overseas by Disney, it came in below pre-weekend projections , grossing $72.9M in 48 material markets (including a soft $28M from China where Tencent Pictures is handling). Along with the early releases and holds from last session, the international box office cume is now $94.6M . Globally, TDF has $123.6M . While Dark Fate was No. 1 in 23 openings, offshore audiences appear to agree with domestic and just didn’t feel compelled to see yet another Terminator movie that was more of the same — even if it was designed as a follow-up to Terminator 2: Judgement Day and brought Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and James Cameron back together. One international distribution source contends that moviegoers are confused as to what this movie is, “It’s sad, it was just a non-event.” Aggravating matters, the … [Read more...] about ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Doesn’t Find Salvation Overseas; ‘Joker’ Jumps To $934M WW As It Seriously Eyes $1B – International Box Office

‘Joker’ Laughing At $850M WW As ‘Maleficent 2’ Nears $300M & ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Unlucky With $13M Offshore Bow – International Box Office
UPDATE, writethru : This was a busy weekend at the international box office with the sophomore session of Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil seeing a 43% drop to lead studio pics at $64.3M in 100% of its offshore footprint. Behind the sorceress, Warner Bros/Village Roadshow/Bron Studios’ Joker continued its laugh-a-minute run to add $47.8M (just 38% off the previous weekend), becoming the No. 3 biggest DC movie ever overseas with $571.5M to date for $849.1M global — where it is also the the top-grossing R-rated movie ever (at current rates) and the first to cross the eight century mark. But leading all offshore play is China ’s Better Days at an estimated $85M . This is particularly notable since the film had been a casualty of a censorship crackdown this summer and had only a three-day release date heads-up for the local distributor. In other new play, Terminator: Dark Fate sealed $12.8M in its early debuts. Those include … [Read more...] about ‘Joker’ Laughing At $850M WW As ‘Maleficent 2’ Nears $300M & ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Unlucky With $13M Offshore Bow – International Box Office

How ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Conked Out With $29M & Why ‘The Irishman’ Is A Strategic Opportunity – Sunday Box Office
4th Update/Writethru, Sunday AM after Saturday AM post : It’s not a good weekend for franchises, specifically old dusty ones like the sixth Terminator movie, Terminator: Dark Fate , which is seeing an apocalyptic future at the weekend domestic box office with $29M, per Paramount (rivals see it lower ,in the high $28M range). That’s a terrible result for a planned Paramount/Skydance Media/Fox tentpole that reportedly cost $185M (some even say it was $196M). Saturday was estimated around $11M, +4% from Friday+previews’ $10.6M, but still nothing to celebrate. More bad news: Dark Fate is the lowest No. 1 opening for the first weekend of November since 2013’s Ender’s Game, which debuted to $27M (final domestic B.O. $61.7M). And sorry, Paramount and Skydance, but this is your second back-to-back bomb, following the $138M Will Smith pic Gemini Man, which is set to lose $80M after a $160M global B.O. All of this Terminator blues has dragged down weekend … [Read more...] about How ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Conked Out With $29M & Why ‘The Irishman’ Is A Strategic Opportunity – Sunday Box Office

On July 22, Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Shamshera arrived in theatres and despite being in tremendous buzz, the film tanked at the box office, as it failed to entertain the audience. Now, Ranbir's actress-cousin Kareena Kapoor Khan is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha , which is helmed by Advait Chandan and also stars Aamir Khan in the lead role. During a conversation with India Today, Kareena was asked about her thoughts on Shamshera's failure at the box office, and here's what she said... She said, "I am nobody to talk about a particular film because (a) I haven't seen the film. And (b) I think everybody operates differently. Everybody, kind of, treats and takes their film very differently. Like I said, some people are very attached and some people are not. So, it is a very individualistic kind of thing. Every actor operates and comes from a different area and every director does. To comment on that would be very wrong on my … [Read more...] about Kareena Kapoor Khan Reacts To Shamshera’s Drastic Failure At Box Office Ahead Of Laal Singh Chaddha’s Release
