Amy Grant suffered a concussion and was unconscious for ten minutes after falling during a July bike ride, according to reports. The singer announced Friday that her remaining tour dates for the summer and early fall would be postponed as a consequence. Initial reports indicated Grant suffered “cuts and abrasions” in her fall. News of the concussion puts a new spin on what occurred, and explains why an ambulance and the subsequent postponement of husband Vince Gill’s tour dates happened. “Friends, we regretfully need to postpone Amy’s previously scheduled tour dates in September and October due to Amy needing more time to recover from injuries and a concussionsustained in a bicycling accident that occurred in Nashville on July 27, 2022,” her team wrote in a statement. Grant previously postponed August shows immediately after the accident. All postponed dates will be rescheduled for February through April 2023, the statement said. “Amy is getting stronger every … [Read more...] about Amy Grant Postponing Tour Dates, As Initial Injury Reports Downplayed Severe Injury

Live Nation Admits Helping Bands Like Metallica Scalp Tickets
TMZ/Getty Composite Live Nation 's provoking the ire of concert lovers everywhere, because it's fessed up to the shady practice of putting tickets directly on resale sites ... before the public even has a chance to buy them at face value. The touring company's admission comes on the heels of a Billboard report detailing a secretly recorded phone call between a Live Nation honcho and an event promoter for Metallica in February 2017 ... days before the band announced its WorldWired North American stadium tour. How Karina Longworth Brought Sex and Sleaze Back to Hollywood History
Karina Longworth ’s house is, quite possibly, haunted. This is not necessarily something she has experienced herself, she tells me of her pale-pink 1926 Mediterranean, where Longworth could be found one July morning on the frond-shadowed patio. But it is something she has on authority from a friend who drunkenly stumbled in from the pool one night and heard, in the empty home, a dinner party going on in the dining room upstairs. Since then, the hauntedness or unhauntedness of Longworth’s abode has become a matter of some debate. “My friend thinks my house is haunted,” she says wryly. “I think he drinks too much.” Either way, there is certainly no one better at reviving Hollywood ’s ghosts than Longworth. A film critic and historian, she is best known for the podcast You Must Remember This, which she researches, writes, and records in a tiny foam-lined closet off the downstairs office of her husband, director Rian Johnson. In the eight years since she launched the podcast with an … [Read more...] about How Karina Longworth Brought Sex and Sleaze Back to Hollywood History
‘Where Are the Jews?’: Scandal Erupts at the Academy Museum
On Sept. 25, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures held its opening gala with a starry guest list that included Lady Gaga, Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, Queen Latifah, Patty Jenkins, Tiffany Haddish, Kristen Stewart, and Jurnee Smollet. It was a moment long in the making, given that planning of the Renzo Piano-designed mecca celebrating the history of film first began back in 2005 and was delayed by the rise of the Covid pandemic. Though eyebrows were raised by the fact that the A-list revelers mingled maskless inside the 33,000-square-foot space on Wilshire Boulevard at a time when celebrities were publicly chastising those who ignored Covid precautions, a much bigger controversy was brewing. Donors and influential Academy members, many of whom already had received private tours, were outraged that Hollywood ’s origin story — wherein a group of mostly Jewish émigrés fled persecution in their home countries to create what would become a multibillion-dollar, American-led industry — … [Read more...] about ‘Where Are the Jews?’: Scandal Erupts at the Academy Museum

“Life Is Like A Golgappa”: How Aamir Khan’s ‘Forrest Gump’ Adapts Tom Hanks Hit For Indian Audiences
Bollywood legend Aamir Khan is set to debut his version of the hit film Forrest Gump , with some differences specially designed for Indian audiences. Khan told the BBC that Forrest’s line, “Life is like a box of chocolates,” has become, “Life is like a golgappa; your stomach feels full, but your heart always craves for more.” Khan explained, “Golgappa is like a street food that we have win Indian and it’s very popular for being the kind of food that if you eat one, you don’t feel like stopping. It was quite well adapted.” And Forrest’s famous park bench where he shares his life story and his philosophies has been exchanged for a train setting. Khan told the BBC, “In India, it’s a little difficult to sit on a park bench and have a conversation, it’s rather noisy and crowded. So we couldn’t imagine sitting it at a bus stop. In India, trains are the most used form of transport, and it’s very common for passengers to exchange stories on a long journey, so that’s how we set the … [Read more...] about “Life Is Like A Golgappa”: How Aamir Khan’s ‘Forrest Gump’ Adapts Tom Hanks Hit For Indian Audiences
How N.E.R.D.’s Debut Brought the Dawn of a Boundless Era
Right from the start, In Search of… stood out. I discovered N.E.R.D.’s 2002 debut at a Best Buy on the rim of Houston’s I-10 loop, sitting at the front of the store on a blue kiosk marked $6.99. I was a first-year high school English teacher, struggling to pull together all the things expected of me. There was this unfussy album cover staring at me, with a twenty-something Black guy on a battered-looking couch in a nondescript apartment playing a video game in his house clothes, blankly staring at an off-screen TV, blissfully unaware of the camera. The cover drew me in with its mundane imagery — a breath of fresh air compared to the bad-boy glamor on the covers of the rap albums I was also buying around that time. Nearly every N.ER.D. fan has a story like this about the first time In Search Of … crossed their radar. And over the next 20 years, the album became a touchstone to the next generation of visionaries. Created by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, a.k.a. … [Read more...] about How N.E.R.D.’s Debut Brought the Dawn of a Boundless Era
