As Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts and more signed on to reprise their Coven roles in the eighth season of American Horror Story, one question still plagued dedicated AHS fans on the internet: What about Angela Bassett? The latest season in Ryan Murphy's horror anthology series — a mashup of the first and third runs of the show — sees the return of nearly every Coven witch, except Bassett's voodoo queen Marie Laveau. Though her character technically died at the end of season three, it wouldn't be the first, second or even third time an AHS character has been resurrected. And Bassett is as disappointed as anyone that Marie didn't make it to the apocalypse. "I have [season eight] on my DVR, but I haven’t seen any of it just yet," Bassett told The Hollywood Reporter at Hollywood Confidential's "An Evening With Angela Bassett" on Monday. "But I mean, come on. Where’s Marie Laveau? I’m even a little bit in my feelings that Marie didn’t … [Read more...] about Angela Bassett on Her ‘American Horror Story’ Season 8 Absence: “Where’s Marie Laveau?”
The New York Times will be running a correction after a photo caption in the paper accidentally confused Angela Bassett for Omarosa Manigault-Newman. Bassett was on stage at the Emmys last night with Tiffany Haddish presenting the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, which Rachel Brosnahan won for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Omarosa was not at the Emmys last night. The Times explained in a statement on Twitter that it was an “incorrect caption from a photo wire service in some early print editions” and they will be running a correction tomorrow. The Times is getting dragged on Twitter as a result of the mix-up, including, yes, the dictionary: [photo via Getty Images] Have a tip we should know? ENTERTAINMENT 07/26/2018 03:27 pm ET Updated 3 minutes ago Not enough has been, or ever will be, said of the phenomenon that is Bassett Tongue. By Matthew Jacobs Have you had the fortune of luxuriating in Angela Bassett’s elocution today? Not enough has been, or ever will be, said of Bassett’s speaking voice, with its modulated theatricality and velvety precision. (Unless maybe you watch that insane show “9-1-1,” recognizing that Bassett Tongue is the healthiest narcotic available. It’s basically ASMR.) The high I’m referring to comes courtesy of “Mission: Impossible - Fallout,” which features a line with Bassettian … [Read more...] about An Ode To Angela Bassett Saying ‘Plutonium’ In The New ‘Mission: Impossible’

16 minutes ago A few months before Avengers: Infinity War arrived and started blowing the world away, Black Panther was doing the exact same thing. From opening day, the superhero film captivated audiences, breaking a ton of records and making boatloads of money in the process. It's fair to say that Black Panther was a legitimate phenomenon, and it certainly helps that it also happens to be a great movie. While the majority of the world had to learn this in theaters, Angela Bassett, who stars as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther, knew that it was something special on the set. In Black Panther, Angela Bassett plays Queen Ramada, T'Challa's mother. She doesn't have an especially large role in the movie, but she does provide a strong anchor that helps keep things together after Killmonger takes the throne. Bassett is great in the role, and the actress could feel the energy on the set as everyone was collaborating to make what would become one of the highest grossing superheroes films … [Read more...] about Why Angela Bassett Knew Black Panther Was Something Special
