E. Oliver Whitney February 13, 2018 Marvel Share on Twitter Share on Facebook Just coming into this story, which I just love. And obviously in the comics, he is the major adversary for T’Challa and the Black Panther. So I knew that it was, at some point down the line, going to be coming my way. I just loved what Ryan did with it in the script. I think he made him a really interesting and morally ambiguous villain. He is one of the world’s greatest takers. He steals, he consumes, he doesn’t have empathy for anyone, he doesn’t care about anyone but himself. He is a total lone wolf. I wasn’t a huge fan of such. I do remember them and also dove into them once I knew I was playing Klaue. But it wasn’t something I grew up particularly with. But I love the world of the Black Panther and Wakanda, and actually Ulysses Klaue’s backstory is this sort of South African Boer character. Yeah, I mean just the sense … [Read more...] about Andy Serkis on Whether He’ll Return for the ‘LOTR’ TV Series
On Friday evening, six actors were honored with Virtuoso Awards at Santa Barbara's historic Arlington Theatre as part of 27th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Three will soon be heading to the Oscars and three will not be. From the former category were best actor nominee Demian Bichir (A Better Life), best actress nominee Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), and best supporting actress nominee Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids), and from the latter category were Patton Oswalt (Young Adult), Andy Serkis (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Shailene Woodley (The Descendants). All were in attendance except for McCarthy, who apparently came down with a case of laryngitis. The other five were separately and then collectively interviewed by moderator Dave Karger of Entertainment Weekly. **Spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.**Star Wars fans had a ton of theories about the Big Bad introduced in The Force Awakens, Supreme Leader Snoke, going into The Last Jedi—so many, in fact, that telling people how bad their theory of choice was became a meme. So, when /Film asked him if Snoke could make an appearance in J.J. Abrams’ final installment in the current Star Wars trilogy, he told them that a character making it through something like that is kind of an open question in Star Wars—and, to be fair, it’s canon that Darth Maul lived through something similar with his return on Star Wars Rebels, … [Read more...] about Nooooo Andy Serkis, Don’t Stir Up the Snoke Talk!
