Gordon has been tapped to write the feature adaption of Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney’s The Nest.Gordon will pen the movie for Amazon Studios, which released her last feature The Big Sick, which just earned the scripter an Oscar nom for best original screenplay. The New York Times bestseller follows the dysfunctional Plumb family. Reality Producers Favor Showtime, Dislike Working With Amazon and MTV
Who did nonfiction and unscripted producers like working with in 2017? Showtime, CBS and A&E, it appears.The 2018 poll of reality production companies, conducted by the recently joined Nonfiction Producers Association and PactUS (NPACT), offers insights into who — and over an expanded playing field. The latest poll now includes streaming outfits and broadcast networks. Showtime tops the list of overall best to work with networks, while MTV languishes in the bottom with Amazon and Viacom siblings VH1 and BET.Of the streaming players, newcomer Apple tops all programmers (across the board) in the pitch process. Initial meetings with the latest player in originals seem to be going well. Amazon Pulls Pro-Slavery Merch from Marketplace
Amazon has removed offensive apparel, accessories and children's clothing that glorifies slavery from its website. The products, which bear the slogan, "slavery gets shit done" and features images of pyramids in the background, were sold by a third party seller, and were eventually removed by the retailer for violating Amazon's offensive products policy, which prohibits the sale of "products that promote or glorify hatred, violence, racial, sexual or religious intolerance or promote organizations with such views."In a statement to Reuters, an Amazon spokesperson reaffirmed its stance on marketplace guidelines. “All Marketplace sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who don’t will be subject to action including potential removal of their account. Amazon Studios is readying to introduce Generation Wealth to a wider audience this summer, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The studio will release Lauren Greenfield's documentary in theaters on July 20. It makes its world premiere on Thursday at the Sundance Film Festival, in the Doc Premieres section.Generation Wealth reflects on materialism in America — a common theme of Greenfield's body of work as a photographer and filmmaker. Amazon Signs Deal With ‘Catastrophe’ Creator Sharon Horgan
With the British comedy show Catastrophe having proven a hit on its streaming platform, Amazon Studios has signed its Emmy-nominated creator Sharon Horgan to a two-year overall deal.
